Hardin Simmons has still NOT won a playoff game since 2000.
dang.  that was a tight one--start to finish.
My vote for Play-of-the-Game is the strip of the recovered fumble that kept the ball for Trinity.

That play would have been overturned if there were Instant Replay.

Agreed - seems like Trinity player got it back after the HSU recovered and play was dead. But, I also think they don't pick up the flag for targeting/hit to defenseless player against HSU with replay. So I guess it evens out? Or did Trinity still score on that drive?
I am not sure that every official has the same understanding of the targeting at this time in the development of the Theory of Targeting.

I cannot remember the sequences of those plays.

Hey, not a bad performance by the #7 seed at the #1 seed!

We will see how the Texas teams have performed in the next 4 weeks.

There were so many upsets that I am not sure how strong the Texas teams are.

UWW lost.
Wheaton lost.

In fact the WIAC lost!
Right now, TUTX and HSU are equal for 58 minutes.

Pomona-Pitzer's QB was Skylar Noble from Birdville HS.

In person he Looked to have been down and ground caused it. Replay shows his knee hitting prior to ball coming loose. Still can't tell if the HSU helmet cause it or the RBs elbow hitting the ground. Great play to get it back during the scrum. Officiating had highs and lows probably for both teams.

My observations.
It was cold wet and nasty! Guys were knocking the "poop" out of each other all game!
I think TU played one of their best games of the year. HSUs RB is goooood! TU had a couple of drive killers in the first half with unforeseen TOs. Both at midfield while driving. Same when they had a high snap that stalled another potential drive in HSU territory with horn smartly falling on it. It was a very fun and exciting "Texas Style" of playoff football. I know it's not a video game, but if TU stops HSU on their 4th down passing conversion, that lead to the Garcia TD....this one may have not even been a 2-3 score game. TU had a lot of young guys get their numbers called and they answered the bell.

Thinking back...HSU Trinity games are almost always 1 score games!

I would be careful not the taunt the D3Football Schadenfreude gods.
UMHB is the #3 seed in this bracket and Trinity had to come from behind to beat HSU.

I still remember those late 90's/early 2000's McMurry/HSU battles when I first attended MCMurry. HSU had some great teams and Trinity seemed to be the team to beat back then. I'll still argue the the Braxton Shaver led teams were better than what they finished

Brings back a lot of memories... I remember Case at practices throwing the ball around

umhb2001

HSU arguing about their place in the tourney but unable to get it done is becoming a yearly experience. Pretty funny.

TU now wanting UMHB. Well. Here we come, and based on this week's game, we are ready to click.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

No doubt UMHB can turn it on and will likely do so during the playoffs.

Trinity, meanwhile, can shut things down as they have demonstrated all season.

This dynamic played out last year and the TU-UMHB encounter was, in my humble opinion, the apex game of the playoffs.

The energy from both the TU and HSU fans last weekend was amazing. It was no kidding startling to hear the roar come across the field from the HSU fans!  Not a common event at EM Stevens field.

Looking forward to an epic game on Saturday.  Go Texas!

I strongly agree.

Cru Mike

My prediction for Saturdays game. I think the CRU are somewhat not pleased with their seeding in the bracket. This team has senior leadership and something like 30 players that started or played in last years Stagg Bowl. The CRU are on a mission and I see them winning by at least 14. I'll be in San Antonio for this game.

CruFrenzy

I will be there too + a few more coming with me, hoping for a great contingent of UMHB fans to make the trip. As fun as it is to host playoff games at the Cruthedral it will be enjoyable to to get experience a big time playoff atmosphere on the road.

My thoughts about the game are similar to yours. Tons of respect for Trinity but I don't think this years game will be much like the game was last year. Our offense is a completely different animal then it was a year ago when these two teams met and also our defense is a lot younger so it's not all bad news for Trinity but respectfully I'm going to predict 31-17.. Trinity will get some stops but like I said this will be a different style of game than last year imo

This TU broadcast is pretty brutal. Might have to go to mute

Some big missed opportunities for the Cru. Defense playing really well... Did they change the rule about artificial noisemakers in the playoffs?

Ya I was hearing what sounded like an airhorn. My guess is that was quickly confiscated, but guess we shall see.
