Does anyone have information on potential opponents for UMHB this coming season?

If I had to guess I'd say Muhlenberg and UWW again as I'm hoping neither were one year deals.  I don't know who we will pick up for another non-conference game though.

I think it was reported that Muhlenberg was a 1 year deal, but Whitewater will be making the trip to Belton. I'm very interested to find out who the other two non-conference opponents will be but I don't expect we'll know for a couple of months.

Didn't hear that about Muhlenberg, that's unfortunate.  It is also unfortunate that UMHB is always one of the very last to actually release a schedule lol...

Muhlenberg's conference entered into a scheduling agreement with the New Jersey Athletic Conference and the Centennial Conference lost some members so Centennial members' schedules are all sorts of shuffled.

So if Whitewater is confirmed, that leaves 3 open dates for UMHB?

I think just two?  The ASC lost Southwestern this year but doesn't lose anyone else until 2024.  Unless SRSU somehow gets a waiver to immediately join the Lone Star Conference, but I think they're still negotiating.  Also, Simon Fraser doesn't get kicked out of the LSC until 2024 so I'm guessing that is when SRSU is targeting joining the conference.

I'm getting my information from D3 football.com open date page. It claims UMHB has open dates the first 4 weeks of the 23 season.

That's based on schedules provided so far by other schools as well as UMHB, and a great many schools haven't yet published their non-conference schedules.  Dates will fill out as we get closer to next season.

They can only schedule a max of 10 games. They'll have 7 ASC games plus Whitewater. So just two dates need to be filled. They will have a bye week somewhere in there because of when ASC play starts and all of that. So yes, 4 open dates currently, 3 of which will end up being filled.

Thank you for the explanation. Now we just wait.

I'm nearly certain UW-W plays at Belton week 3.

Yes. Unfortunately, with power programs in D3 (UMHB, St. John's, Whitewater), we usually have to wait until spring to find out scheduling. Nobody wants to play these teams. Coaches I talked to last year said that it was near impossible to find nonconf opponents. Wouldn't surprise me if it's May and we still don't have a football schedule for the Cru. Finding 2 nonconf games was challenging last year

There is very little value to scheduling a non-conference game with a power program. If you need a quality win for the sake of Strength of Schedule, you can play someone against whom you might get a victory, e.g., Huntingdon's 41-34 loss to Linfield last season. Sometimes, it backfires, e.g., UMHB 62, Muhlenberg 13. Wow, McMurry only lost 62-3 to UMHB in 2022. In fact, McMurry has played UMHB 6 times since returning D-3. They are 0-6 by cumulative scores of 426-16.

The good news for McMurry moving to the SCAC is that they will no longer receive their "beat-down" from UMHB. That honor will transfer to Trinity.

Yep, win percentage is typically much more important than the 1 or 2 non-conference games a team play and the impact of those games on SOS. Yes, and I think this goes back to why so many schools are leaving the ASC. There's a problem here, because D3 football has gotten to be very top-heavy with very clear tiers, and not many teams between the two tiers. So the power programs can't get non-conference games and for good reason, teams (even within their own conference) want no business playing them.
