UMHB just has to "get over that hump",  which apparently is winning one game.  0-2 is pretty bad,but 0-3.... yikes

Love the chirping from a Mount Union fan. Its laughable for any of their fans to be poking fun at UMHB for these losses when comparing the teams' schedules. UMHB scheduled and lost to two top 10 programs the first two weeks - with both games on the road. Meanwhile, Mount Union is roaring out the gate in weeks 1 and 2 against teams with records of 6-4 and 3-7 last year. Nice.

Let's see how UMHB does in conference play before writing them off.

Amen.

Good luck to you guys the rest of the way. Since it appears that UMHB is down and out this season, I'll be rooting for Trinity and Hardin-Simmons to carry the Texas banner in the playoffs. It's a complete farce that one of those teams will probably have to eliminate the other in the first round again this year.

...and hope that HSU and TuTX don't meet in the 1st round (projecting the Pool A bids from the respective conferences).

Now I can imagine (in my wildest dreams) a 9-1 HPU getting (one of the 4)  Pool C bid. It would help with geographcial proximity.

Don't forget about Berry. They've scheduled some good teams (UW-W) the last couple of years, and this year look to make a run at the SAA (2-0).

I was thinking the same thing. We've had some slow starts up here over the years. And whenever we do, there's lots of talk about who is "replacing" UW-W at the top of the conference.  But at the end of the day,  I think we've won something like 15 out of the last 17 WIAC conference Championships. Until UMHB is taken down BY ASC OPPoNENTS, I'd be very careful about writing them off.

I will be at the game Saturday with my family rooting for the Cru as hard as anyone, they will be my team 10-0 or 0-10 no matter what. With that being said, I could not disagree more. I think we are cooked, and have been for some time now.

This is so clearly not the same program it was even a year or two ago (although there were some warning signs last year), the dominos are really falling now. Not just a dip in talent & general game planning but the most notable is the lack of edge and chip on shoulder type mentality we have had for 20 years. Call me negative all you want but I have a right to my opinion so I figured I'd share it. I'm frustrated because I love this program and I HATE what I'm seeing right now from everyone involved.

"Too many cool cats out there and not enough dogs"

I won't make a score prediction for Saturday because I don't want to continue to pile on, but I think we have to LEVEL UP in the physicality department specifically on the defensive front or we will get ran all over for 6+ yards per carry. Offense needs to get the quick game going and take points when they're available. Got to try to make this a grind.

I wish I could disagree with this, but I can't. I've seen nothing from this team that makes me believe they can beat Howard Payne, much less Hardin-Simmons. UMHB has had slow starts before, but not like this. I haven't seen this kind of futility since the first 2-3 years of the program, and back then they at least had the excuse of being a brand new program. This program won a National Title in dominating fashion a mere two years ago, and now they look like they've never been on a football field before.

I don't blame anyone for feeling down, losing the way we have is never going to fill you with joy but I do think its important to point out how difficult the start of this season was going to be for any UMHB team. Besides Trinity last year, UMHB had not won a true road game against a top 10 team since 2017 against Linfield and before that it was 2012 against Wesley. We lost a TON of talent last year, yes we would like to think we can just replace that and maybe we will but we have never had to do it against 3 non conference teams like this in a row, mostly on the road. As many have pointed out we have historically started slow but we did it against maybe one very good team and then we either played lesser non conference teams or whoever was on our conference schedule.

I would not bet my last dollar that we are going to win on Saturday but I am not going to panic until we look mortal against a non elite team.

CRULive1845

Agreed.

The only other elite team in the ASC is HSU. HPU and ETBU have had ability to surprise you if you take them for granted, but neither has shown elite consistency.

We have literally faced what just might be Qtr final/semi final (maybe even Stagg Bowl) level competition in the 1st 2 weeks. UWW will be just about the same or better competition. With an inexperienced team trying to find their identity, growing pains are bound to happen.

Just like we saw a bit more fight and improvement from WK 1 to WK 2, hoping to see more fight and improvement in WK 3.

Go CRUUUUUU!
