Please CRU fans.
Consider the opponent.
50-9 is a "gentle" outcome against McM.
The real tests are HSU & HPU.
If UMHB runs the table, then back to San Antonio for a 7-seed going on the road

Hey now, we've just come off of a historic losing streak, give us some joy in a win! :D
for UMHB it was a historic losing streak, but I was there when McMurry finally won a game after going almost 2 full seasons winless. The joy on that sideline dwarfed the happiness I had with UMHB winning Saturday
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Listened to Burleson's coaches show (available at https://hsuathletics.com/news/2023/9/28/football-hsu-opens-conference-play-at-home-against-hpu.aspx) and he said Glynn is "day-to-day" and "looks a whole lot better", but "there is no timetable."  OLB Cade Michna is also "day-to-day" with a "tweaked ankle".

umhb2001

Notes say Glenn is back this week but we'll see.

Should be interesting to see what happens. If he doesn't start, HPU has the edge.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

We'll see how HSU does without their starting QB. He is out against HPU.

It wasn't our prettiest performance but at the end of the day we came out with a win against a program who has really turned things around recently. What a lot of outsiders probably haven't noted is we have been not only without Gaylon but 2 other key starters and captains. One at Linebacker (Mitchell) and one at defensive end(Hammonds). Our all American LB didn't make the trip to Endicott and we haven't had the best safety in the conference all season in D. Nephew. When you start to put these things into play it makes sense of the recent struggles. Last Saturday Hsu fielded a new QB and whole new linebacker core. As long as we get these guys back before October 28th I still like our chances at making a run. However we HAVE to get #12 back healthy, I don't think our backup can do the job. I'm concerned for QB next season already.

Agreed, as someone who picked HPU to win because I thought the injuries were too much to handle I give big props to HSU in finding a way to win. I didn't expect that way to be to outscore a HPU team that obviously can put up some points but a win is a win.

umhb2001

The HPU qb didn't wow me. His balls floated and hung all day long. I was surprised HSU didn't grab more INTs. If that happens against UMHB, we will pick of three passes I say.

HSU had some great running backs. UMHB looked SO improved against UWW in stopping the run. I like our look on that aspect of defense.

Our passing game looked better against McM, but that's to be expected after going against Trinity and UWW. Phe has grown each week. Continuing to grow as we play teams not ranked is going to help.

I'm positive we'll be ready come the last few games of the season.

No UmHB feed?

No we are not doing road games anymore, but pretty easy to sync the radio broadcast to TLU's feed.

umhb2001

Cru looked great today and sent TLU out in style. They got to tuck their tails and run for their new conference where they will continue to get dominated unless they are able to really do some great recruiting.

HSU and McMurry are currently at the half while I am typing this. I haven't watched any, but I'll watch a little of the second half. Glad we sent McMurry packing last week.

I think most of this division is writing UMHB off. Yeah, I'll admit I was worried weeks 1-3, but I can honestly see the growth of the team through it all. I think we are going to be just fine vs HSU and HPU.

Should be a fun second half of the season. #GoCru

It is this arrogance that is UMHB's problem.  TLU is not the school running and tucking their tails.  TLU is sticking with the ASU in football as long as they can (through next season so the "CREW" can kick their ass again) and providing the Baptist four a lifeline.  My understanding, TLU was the one school that was looking to move to the ASU but realized that was futile. Yeesh!!!  We get it...UMHB is good at football.  TLU's athletics department works really hard at giving their student athletes a complete experience while being competitive at the D3 level.  Don't trash what you don't understand and enjoy your win.

Woah, Hsu and McMurry went to OT?

Edit: looks like HSU won by 3 in OT. What a crazy season this has been. UWW's loss kind of stinks as that slightly devalues how close UMHB played them. Have to wonder if HSU and UMHB get closer in rankings now that they have a common opponent result. Granted, HSU is missing their first string qb, but that's just part of the game.

Crazy season. Nothing makes sense.
Final HSU 19 McM 16.

HSU's QB is still AJ Hawkins

tigerguy

Hawkins is a D2 transfer from Henderson State, which is a very good program. HSU should be doing just fine with him. Undoubtedly, not having Glynn - a senior - hurts from both a leadership perspective and an offensive perspective, but this team should be beating McMurry by 10 minimum regardless of who is lining up behind center. Remember - HSU beat La Crosse with Glynn only throwing for 198 and 0 Tds. If they don't figure things out, UMHB - yes, 2-3 UMHB (probably 4-3 UMHB come game week) - is going to steamroll them.
