On a side note, they need to find some way to remotely cut Skeeta's mic during the game. He's always forgetting to turn it off. He seems like a nice guy and I get a kick out of his enthusiasm, but I prefer to hear the announcers during the game action rather than his cheering and conversations on the sideline drowning them out.

Some folks I know love it! Especially when you get the enthusiastic "HOLDING" call haha but personally it's pretty cringe worthy from a professional broadcast standpoint and really does bring down the quality of a broadcast that already deals with suspect quality.

I think we heard a whole phone conversation from Skeeta this past Saturday haha

Early on when it was still a ballgame and they'd cut away he said "I don't know if they (SRSU) have improved, or if we're just flat."  Love it.

Figured it out, K. Deal--------------don't see him listed on the roster anymore at all???

Now that you mention it, he has been deleted from UMHB's site. That generally doesn't happen...

UMHB's defense made some good adjustments yesterday, offense was sort of meh. But getting 16 points via special teams + defense is always great.

In other scores, anyone got some details on HSU only beating TLU by 5?  Glynn did play so ???

To avoid speculation on Khyren Deal, I'll say this. It was confirmed to me (and has already been reported in the Temple Daily Telegram by Eric Drennan as well) that he left the team to focus more on academics. Balancing being a PT major and playing football (or any sport) for that matter isn't easy. This is not the first time this has happened with a UMHB student-athlete deciding to step away from their sport to focus on being a PT major. It was tough on him to step away, but he had to make a decision that he felt was best for his long-term future.

Getting into PT grad school is no joke and extremely competitive. I attended the parent part of freshman orientation with my daughter a few years ago at UMHB. The PT faculty basically told the incoming students that they need to have a 3.5 undergrad GPA just to be considered, but even that probably isn't good enough in many places. Athletics are great, but I imagine it would be tough for most students to balance football demands (and be good at it) and PT academics.

Speaking of the broadcast, is it just me or has anyone else had difficulty trying to watch UMHB games online?  The streaming service seems terrible.  Have used my phone, different laptops and all the same issues, constantly buffering so you end up missing out on a lot of the game.

SID needs to look into changing services and getting rid of Presto or whatever it is they are using.---it's TERRIBLE!

I didn't have any problems with the SRSU broadcast this weekend.

That has plagued the stretchinternet service forever. I've found the best experience is through the app on roku or amazing fire TV stick. As to a new platform, I doubt they will change anytime soon. Heck, unless the SID has changed recently, the current one is the one who stopped sending our stream team to away games...

I have to use my work laptop to watch the games. If I try to watch them on my personal computer, it freezes and buffers every 5 seconds. Stretch is useless.

I don't know why we can't stream on YouTube like Trinity, Southwestern, and TLU (I think). I've never had any problems with it there.

Austin College also now streaming on YouTube. It is the way to go in my opinion. And from a exposure standpoint, you will often pick up viewers on YouTube (who see it on their recommended feed), that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Lots of positives to YouTube and its essentially free to stream on (obviously you need all of the back end stuff to make the production work, but you pay for that on whatever platform you have).

Yeah, there are multiple companies that sell a stream in a box setup for YouTube as well. Southwestern used SHN sports on YT for a while and recently moved to Vype Live on YouTube.

Agreed. The Roku and Firestick options are the best IMO. The Chromecast device with remote has the UMHB/ASC app too I believe.

My prediction (which shouldn't be taken very seriously because my predictions are almost always wrong) is that UMHB, HSU, HPU and ETBU end up in the SCAC

I don't see that happening AT ALL.  These schools may be using academics as the reason why they are fleeing the ASC...but I think everyone knows it's more about HSU/UMHB domination.

I think HPU and ETBU could POSSIBLY end up in the SCAC as long shots......but HSU and UMHB is going to a a HARD PASS from the entire SCAC.  It will likely be driven by football reasons, but they will use Academics as the shield.

Yeah, at this point I would be *stunned* if any of those four ends up in the SCAC. LeTourneau is the only one that wouldn't totally surprise me, of the remaining ASC schools. Not saying it's impossible, but it's highly improbable that any of the others get an invite.

What would be the reasons for not taking HPU and ETBU?
Academically their admission standards are more in line with the SCAC than HSU and UMHB

Or is it more political?
I hate how politica have crept into every aspect of life
Dems....republicans....MAGA....woke left.....crazy

More Ideological/social?
Abortion and LGBT type issues?

Financial?
I don't think any of these schools are struggling financially like we've seen some schools struggle in other conferences

Selfishly I'm only concerned about ETBU's well-being.  But I hate how all four are being left out to dry.  As a sports fan I hate seeing all these rivalries being dumped.

I had heard NAIA was the talk on campus.  But now it seems D-2 talk is being floated around too.

Meh.  Change is hard.

SCAC football is still on very uncertain footing - there are only six teams committed to play and not all of them until 2026.  Jek has a really good handle on this, but I still would not be surprised if the SCAC is forced to offer either HPU or ETBU.  Both would be in decent position from a travel partner perspective (HPU, McMurry; ETBU, Centenary).  And I've often thought of all the Baptist Four, HSU would be the best add as they are already quite competitive with Trinity in a number of sports besides football.

In addition, one of the six schools is Schreiner and there has been utterly nothing said about the sport since they announced.   This article says Schreiner won't start play until 2025 but I would have expected there to be a coach announced by now - so they can start recruiting athletes in the class entering 2024, playing a JV schedule.
