In looking at HSU, I have to think they are going to go with the game plan they have played against us for a few years now. Run the ball as much as possible, don't ask your QB to do too much and hold onto the ball.

Rivalry week is upon us. Planning on making the trip to Abilene. Should be another fantastic installment in the ongoing rivalry between the top two teams.

As I see it, the key battles are this:

UMHB run D vs the stable of runners for the Cowboys.

Isaac Phe vs a talented HSU defense

Of course I'm taking my Cru by a TD to win. Good luck and good health to all.

If the HSU team that played two weeks ago and should have lost to TLU shows up, Cru by 20.

And IF my Aunt had a pair she'd be my Uncle!! We looked to be back on track this past weekend, still missing some guys on defense, but I like our chances with Glynn back. Could be wet in Abilene this weekend and I like that even better for us! Time will tell but give me the Cowboys by 10!

I'd love to hear your reasons for liking your chances. Not saying you're wrong. Just looking for explanation.

I think UMHB has really grown into their run defense. The area I think could be a problem where I see HSU have success is outside running. I agree with Coach Burleson, who has blocked me from following him on Twitter/X, that the HSU backs are deep and capable.

The difference will come on whether UMHB can stop the run enough to force 3rd and long. If they can do that, the experienced secondary may be able to give Glenn some challenges.

HSU's DLine and LBs look athletic and active. If we can continue to find success in the RPO, I think we will be able to overcome that strength of HSU.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I tend to think the return of Mitchell and Michna last week are just as important as Glynn's return to form. I'd imagine this is a typical UMHB/HSU low-scoring slug match. I think with both teams fully healthy it's probably a coin flip game. I agree the key will be HSU's ability to run the ball. I also think special teams could play a big role. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a 13-10 type of game in either direction. No matter what, it should be fun.

I think it's going to come down to turnovers. Last year HSU had our boys on the ropes until a 2min stretch of turnovers that completely altered the dynamic and course of that game in the CRU's favor.

Although I don't anticipate that level of craziness this time around,  I still hold that the team who wins the turn over battle wins the game.

Right now I believe UMHB is -2 on the season in turnovers and HSU is +4. Edge HSU.

Also HSU will more than likely get to Phe at times in Saturdays game given the CRU offensive line's pass pro struggles. Phe will need to be willing to take a sack here and there and protect the football vs trying to get rid of it into coverage. Lean on your D to get stops and live to fight another day.

Although I've seen improvement in the CRU running game over the past few weeks, not sure that the current read option RPO dump to the tight end is going to cut it against a team of HSU's caliber UNLESS that running game can get 4.5-5yd+ per carry type production.

I think this game is a TD or less spread and can see it going either way but obviously hope it'll end in the CRU's favor!

I think I speak for everyone here when I welcome our Cowboy friends for their recent participation here, and hope that regardless of the outcome you stick around after this week.  I don't have a dog in this hunt but hope for a good game where everyone stays healthy.

Phe has improved leaps and bounds since he was thrust into the starting position. He has faced UWRF, UWW, Trinity, and a myriad of others. Third down will be the key. I think our run game will be pivotal as well. OW, I think, will see way more playing time this week. IMO, the offense has been better with him on the field.

Hopefully the rain holds off as predicted. I don't want any delays!

Sheesh. Hope Cowboys can make some defensive adjustments because Cru are moving ball at will right now. Assuming Cowboys offense will eventually wake up but defense needs a spark.

Feels like almost all D3FB production teams need to follow 3 very simple rules.

1. Zoom out, we would rather see the whole play as opposed to your attempt to follow the ball
2. Never show field level cameras during a live play.
3. Don't overproduce, I don't need replays if the offense is moving quickly.

Yup.

UMHB outgained HSU 259 to 103. Cowboys keeping this close due to two blocked field goals (personally, both looked like kicker's fault to me), and some sloppy plays in the red zone.

UMHB03

HSU's MVP has been UMHB's atrocious special teams. They've cost the Crusaders 6 easy points and gave Hardin-Simmons a free 7. They couldn't be any worse if they tried.

Wondering if we are going to see the Cru try to stretch the field today

Having just watched a bunch of Maryville-Belhaven with the camera locked off at the All-122 view, there needs to be some balance there.

I don't mind the HSU broadcast but yes, at times it's a little tight.
