I go back and forth between what / who the Cru should consider bringing in as a HC replacement for Harmon. Initially I think about a up and coming proven Texas HS coach, but I could be onboard with robbing another ASC team. I remember watching Jordan Neal as a player, and even had the pleasure of meeting his dad a couple times when I was rooting for the opposing team, and super impressed.

I think he could shine at a program like UMHB

I'm starting to get the vibe that he isn't getting replaced... hopefully I'm wrong.

Unfortunately I think you are closer to being right than I am. Another option, would Temple HS coach Stewart be interested? Great success at the Texas HS level, local, and coming off a rough season and not sure what my Wildcats have in place for the next few years in their new district

I think you are selling the job short a bit.

There would be 400 applicants over night if the UMHB job were to open, D1 coordinators, 5A/6A head coaches all over the state and country and potentially even some older college head coaches looking to find their forever job... I think we could get a total slam dunk no questions asked.

For sure I'm probably underestimating, and that would be great. I just hope we make a move

You guys have idea what you pay your HC?

The ship hasn't sunk yet.  Players leaving and transferring---happens all the time and at all levels.  Have to remember,  Harmon ran the defense for 20 yrs and UMHB always had great defenses.  Johnson has taken over that duty and the defense has dropped off a bit---new DC running things, there are growing pains---shouldn't be but there is.  Padron has been lackluster in his play calling and at times I've been amazed at how terrible his play calling is.  I don't like the fact that he is on the sideline instead of being up in the box to get a better view of things.

BUT, not quite ready to give up yet.  Another thing to consider, I think 2 of the 3(don't know about UW-W) teams they lost to had a lot of the so called super seniors because of the COVID year

I'm guessing no news is bad news when it comes to replacing Padron. I have it on good authority from multiple sources that Padron really isn't viewed as the guy and that the trust isn't really there.

I don't like that guys are leaving. I hope we can get some better talent.

With SO many schools in Texas, there have got to be kids out there that we can recruit and get to come to UMHB. If NCC and the WIAC schools can get these big hogmollies, why can't we? We must get size on the line and receivers that can catch the ball. Speed, we should be able to get speed all over the field!

I've been searching Transfer Portal on x and reaching out to kids telling them to look at UMHB. I don't know that it will help, but it can't hurt

We just have to be able to make upgrades on both Olines and skill positions. Watching the games today, only NCC really has superior talent. The rest of the teams just have solid performers and are well-coached.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

It'll be interesting to see what happens in two years once the last of the 5th year players are gone. The defense came around this year.  I'll agree with the play calling being really bad.  It is also a bit alarming to know that they didn't evaluate their QB talent enough to realize that the 3rd stringer who go no reps in the scrimmages was the best QB we saw all year...

As for 5th years go:
UWRF had a seasoned group, but Blaha wasn't. Trinity had a good amount/16 (Horn, Harmel, Merrifield). UWW only had 6 seniors starting, the rest are sophomores and a few juniors, not sure how many of the 6 are 5th years. HSU had a few as well.

Since I'm bored, here is a spreadsheet with all of the kids who have said UMHB has offered them so far:

Two of the four teams in the D2 football final four are private schools. Just saying... (in case any of the current ASC are forced to consider D2)

Looks like Trashawn Adams is going to end up at Stephen F. Austin. Not a bad jump from d3 to fcs.

After watching Scott a few years. I would hope they wouldn't even consider him.
