UMHB's ability to reload through transfers is unreal. Curious if any other team in D3 gets that many transfers each year, and quality ones at that.

I'm going to throw out a guess that no other D-III school has 35 (or whatever) transfers. The coaching will have to be spot on to be able to mold so many newcomers into a team. I have no doubt Larry feels the same way as Coach Rindahl at UW-W who says, "We are building a team, not a talent show."

Here's my McKinsey slide deck thought exercise on fixing the ASC. Have the current member schools considered the feasibility of carving out some of their academic programs from their main university and setting up an additional athletics program as an affiliated college?

The idea resolves the conference issue by stabilizing the conference at eight members in a tight geographic footprint for travel cost control. It also allows for larger aggregated roster sizes (= more revenue) and doubles the total NCAA playing time available (= better student-athlete retention).

While this scenario may not have precedent, schools in the same university systems and close physical proximity can and do compete separately. Schools also share facilities all the time.

Please venmo me my $5M consult fee, asap.

UMHB has posted their 2024 roster including jersey numbers. As might be expected, the only two freshmen with varsity numbers were transfers, and I expect that more true freshman will work their way up to varsity in the coming days. The big surprise for me was Joey Verret, a graduate transfer from ETBU. He is a 2-time all-ASC (first team last year), and was all over the field against the Cru last year. As of today, he is not listed as a varsity player. What the heck???

Yeah, I'm going to check on that...Renfro is also not listed with a jersey number, and based on the fact that he took quite a few snaps in the scrimmage, I'd be seriously surprised if he doesn't start the year on varsity (especially as a grad student...unsure if he has more than 1 year of eligibility remaining). Cameron Bibins is another one without a jersey number as of now (and he's still listed at safety).

Only 2 qbs with numbers, after last year's first game I can't imagine that's going to stay the same...

Considering there are only two QB's listed with numbers (AKA on the varsity) right now I would think it's somewhat fair to say they haven't completed the roster info yet.

Yeah, I think if the choice is beach or scrimmage, I'm sticking with the sand.  Have a great time, Etch!

Any thoughts on the scrimmage last night?  I was at the A&M game watching the Aggies miserable offensive performance. Would have been better off watching the scrimmage.

BSCpanthers

This coming Saturday we get our first peek at Westgate Christian.  But if you aren't at the game in Tyler at Texas College, not sure we will learn anything.  Even though Texas College website is better, it has very little info, with no roster posted.  However, Texas College did win this past Saturday, so there is that.

This is the intriguing story for me going into the season, Who is Westgate Christian.  It has been in my mind all summer.

Here is what I got from dad's texts lol:

A bunch of delay of game penalties.

Phe played for purple squad with Renfro and Wright splitting time on the white squad.

Wright had a really nice deep pass and Renfro had a good number of 5-10 yard passes.

Asa Osborne and Kamerin Ferguson looked good at rb.

Whoever #16 on the white squad was they made some really good catches.

AJ Williams had some good catches.

Also said Renfro tried to run and got hit pretty hard. Went down with some sort of leg injury.
