I do not think they have any reason to sleep on anyone. They are still riding with a chip on their shoulder with guys like me riding their case and for not being taken seriously by the D3 world as a whole. They have a lot they still feel they need to prove and I don't blame them.

Should be an electric game. Looking forward to it.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

So... Not great news

#95 Ron Tatum (transfer from OU)
#98 BJ Ferrell (transfer from Arkansas)

Neither are on the roster as of today. I don't want to take anything away from the positive direction we are headed after that big win because there were a lot of good things to take away.

But yet another example of talented players exiting the program under Harmon. I just can't understand why it continues to happen... Tatum was our starting DE last week against UW Whitewater. Just frustrating to see happen again, especially mid season.

Well, I don't see them quitting after 3 weeks into a season and expecting to go someplace else and play.  That's sitting out an entire year, too late to enroll in another school.

I would expect maybe disciplinary reasons first before thinking them leaving had anything to do with Harmon.  After all, they became one of the top D3 football teams on the philosophy that the team comes first.  They have always had talent come and go and it was usually because they wouldn't put the team first.

Maybe these guys expected to come right in and be a starter given their previous resume(D1 transfer) but that isn't a guarantee to be given a spot, still have to work for it and maybe they didn't want to put in the work.  Could also be that the leadership committee comprised of players said "Hey, these guys aren't going to fit in because they are more interested in personal success than the success of the team or they are a distraction."

Coach Fred dropped Silvio Diaz a couple of days before the playoff game against Whitewater for disciplinary reasons.  You hate to lost talent like that but that falls on the player and he has to realize that bouncing around from team to team makes him look very unreliable.

Yeah, I'd assume discipline issues first honestly. Could've sworn I looked at the game notes earlier this week and they had made it up to 2nd string on the 2 deep. Different 2 deep today though...

Quote from: Ron Boerger on September 25, 2024, 11:24:18 AMA game against a D2 or NAIA school is a game.  A week off or a scrimmage against a non-NCAA/NAIA affiliated program is not.
Countable games are those against varsity teams of 4 year degree granting institutiions that conduct a majority of their competition against varsity intercollegiate teams of United States four year degree granting institutions.  An exception to that is games against Newport News Apprentice School.  Exeception was granted many years ago and apparently still in effect.  They have 4 D3 schools on their schedule this year.

Could also be that those guys were homesick?  Tatum was from Oklahoma and Ferrell was from Arkansas.  Never know what may have happened.

I am shocked!!! who could have ever foreseen these scholar-athletes with 4 or 5 colleges listed on their resume leaving prior to using up a year of eligibility?  #whyD3

NCAA announced that ETBU would host the 2028 D-3 Softball national championship.

That makes it sound like ETBU is fully committed to remain in D3.... ending speculation they would look to the NAIA or possibly even D2.

Going to be interesting to see how all this shakes out.  Seems like the ASC is toast.  Matter of where everyone lands...together or separately.

ETBU is a very good team. Assuming they beat HSU twice, and lose to UMHB twice; or, assuming they split their remaining games against both HSU/UMHB, do they still get strong Pool C consideration? Or are they going to get screwed by the ASC's mess of a schedule.

If Kaden Brown stays at the DIII level he is going to be a problem for a few years...

He has a great arm and its fun to watch him throw the ball. He is a stud at the d3 level.

In any case the round robin, home and home format will make the season beyond interesting as it unfolds.
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

UMHB v HSU week!

Hardin Simmons won last season so it's officially a rivalry again  ;)

Solid win for HSU today, I saw their new QB and top WR transferred in from West Texas A&M together. I will be there, should be a good one!

New D3football.com Top 25 is out. UMHB and HSU each move up one spot, with The Cru now No. 13 and HSU now No. 6. Without a doubt, the "Game of the Week" will be in Belton next Saturday.
