One of ETBU's best WR also entered the portal and I can't quite tell but their best RB might be as well.

I saw a bunch of them on Xitter yesterday.

If they couldn't get over the hump this year... And honestly they weren't that close... It's going to be a struggle. And playing UMHB and HSU twice a year is not real appetizing if you don't think you can get over the hump.

Recruiting is going to be hard I suspect.

It's been 25 seasons in the ASC and I think they have maybe 1 win a piece over HSU and UMHB.

So that's a safe assumption

Yeah, we all know how it has been in the last 25 years...

All those other teams besides UMHB and HSU were just playing intra-murals and just could not get over the hump...

Yeah. That's pretty insulting to most schools in D3.

:o

Probably hoping to make it at a higher division. I know a bunch of kids left UMHB, ETBU, and even Hardin-Simmons after last season to go d2.

How much does NIL money compensate for a lack of athletic scholarship money for recruits?
It seems NIL would eventually obviate athletic scholarships, especially in D2 and the NAIA.

Best way to make it to a higher level is game film. If you're good enough they will find you. The more quality reps you can show on tape, the higher chance you have to get a look from the next level. Next level as in being post college.

All this NIL and musical chairs of transfers is getting ridiculous. Used to, a transfer would have to sit out a year and lose a season of eligibility unless they transfered down. At some point the "student" in student athlete needs to mean something to the coaching staff and admissions departments.

I'm not arguing against the transfer process, you shouldn't be married to a school if it's not a good fit, especially when paying out of your pocket (D3), but the odds of playing meaningful snaps when transferring up doesn't happen much; At least from the standpoint of getting familiar with a system that works for a player to showcase their talents for more than a season.

If a school doesn't have your major, I can see transferring after taking some entry level courses, when finding a passion for a future career. I just don't get the switching schools every year... It's not the NBA. If you want to walk on at a D1 and run out the tunnel, cool. Most guys would rather play with their best friends for 4 years and make memories while actually getting to play and travel.

On the flip side, I also don't get the lure of bringing in a bunch of transfers either. A couple here and there I understand. I'd just be shy about going to the portal every year over developing recruits. Less time and less chemistry. Also, what keeps them there and not transferring a second or third time? How do they gain confidence and growth in a system?

Anyways, that's a lot of production lost from this season of play for ETBU. I Didn't know if they were leaving from having a little conference success or changes in the program.

I'd be curious to know how much actual nil money gets thrown around at the lower levels. I can't imagine it is a great amount. I think I've seen maybe 2 or 3 kids mention opendorse at UMHB? Seen a few more at ETBU and I think they were one of the first ones to start using that platform...

Just because I was curious, I went and looked up a few of the folks who transferred out of the ASC... K. J. Peoples and Myles Featherston seem to be doing well up at East central, and Trashawn Adams is 3rd in total tackles at SFA.

Yeah, I kind of feel that is what Kaden Brown might have been trying to do. He redshirted last year at a fcs school. Moving down where you can get instant playing time and build up game film for a year or so, then transferring back up makes sense with the portal the way it is...

The portal sure has changed the landscape of college football...
