Was cool to see when Kyle King, KJ Miller, Brandon Jordan, Aphonso
Thomas transferred. The process worked well for them and UMHB. I mean basically the entire Offense was transfers, but they transferred within the ASC, or down a level...or two. Anyways, They stuck together, developed, Won a Natty. Pretty sure they all got some looks after college too.

I'm not knocking the ETBU kids for trying to test the portal, but they had some early success this year. If they stuck it out maybe they could built on that over next year or two and been really electric.

Honestly, transfers at UMHB have been pretty common for a while.  Even before KJ, Kyle King, Jordan and Thomas, you had Blake Jackson, Markeith Miller, Jace Hammack, Luke Poorman, Ajay Fanene were all transfers to UMHB.

Heck, even Kyle Jones at HSU transferred there from UMHB.

I can see a near future where the top D1 schools are only recruiting the 5 star players out of high school and filling the rest of their recruiting by plucking stand outs from smaller schools. Could lead to more ETBU situations where more talented players are available to D3 teams, but run the risk of being plucked by D2/FCS schools trying to reload after the transfer portal depleted them.

umhbalum

Cru offensive play calling continues to be questionable and predictable

umhbalum

3rd and 1/2 we run the same play and continue to get stuffed. I just don't get it

umhbalum

Trying to milk this 14 points for 3 quarters is maddening to watch

With less than half a yard and guess what play is called? This is where the OC should have the playbook open to ALL the plays! The Cru have a chance to win this game, but it won't happen if the play calling is the same old, same old.

Congrats to the CRU. Unfortunately, this game likely won't move the needle to fix the island-school playoff pairing issues, which is shameful.

No team should have to play a team twice in a the regular season; beat them both times; and then play that team in their first playoff game. Yes people will say the round-robin was their own choice - whatever.

None of that takes away from the fact that there is really no comparison to the short end of the stick that the top island teams get again and again.

Obviously thrilled for UMHB since they beat my tigers last week, but this is getting really REALLY old.

Honestly, reminds me of playoff Pete from back in the 15-17 time frame haha.

Congrats CRU! Beat the Cowboys again! If not for the bye week last week, that's 3 first round exits in 3 years for HSU  ;)

I was happy to see UMHB take the win, but it was a classless act by UMHB after the teams went through the handshakes. There were a lot of UMHB players acting like they had never won a postseason game and started mixing it up with HSU players. Coach Harmon really needs to get a handle on his players before some players start getting ejected from further games in the playoffs. Who were the two UMHB players who went down to the HSU student section and started to taunt them and were seen by couple of the officials. Although flags were thrown for the taunting the Referee for some reason didn't not act on the flags.

Wasn't able to watch the game but the play calling seemed as usual and predictable.  To get that close and can't punch it in, pathetic.  But, it sounds like the defense played their pants off. Great win!

If the game was over, nothing officials could do. Their jurisdiction ends when the clock reads zero

I think trying to control the clock and stay in front was exactly the game plan for UMHB. They could not have drawn it up better. I think people underestimate the HSU defense and you might overestimate how dynamic you are on offense. The 3-3-5 is very tough to pass on if the defense keeps run lane integrity. HSU has great athletes and when UMHB took chances this year more often than not it didn't work out for them, it actually led to over 10 turnovers in 3 games. Getting ahead was the best case scenario bc you could play agressive on defense to take some things away. This is the only path for UMHB again tough opponents.

I was disappointed that early in the game the amazing punt return was aided by what looked to be a block in the back right in front of the ref. That play and an amazing pass by Wright were the difference and your defense played amazing to keep HSU out of rhythm all afternoon offensively. 2 missed fg's hurt but they were long ones because of your defense.

Well done Cru. Third time was a charm. You played a great game.
Really disappointing to see HSU lose yet again in the playoffs.

Also I talked with a neutral party connected to an ASC teamright before the game who said UMHBs best path to a win was an early turnover and an early big special teams play allowing them to play ahead. His exact words were this is their only shot.

At the end of the first quarter that's exactly what we had.
