Possibly of interest to some:  Sul Ross HC Barry Derickson (11-20 in three seasons, including 3-8 in the school's first official D2 season) announced his resignation today.  Did not say what his plans were but noted "I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me from so very far away" so possibly just wants to get out of the armpit of West Texas.

Sul Ross just feels like a Mississippi College situation (but worse) where they realize that D2 is not going to rock the boat in a overly positive way at least for football anyway so it just results in spending more to get the same amount of output.

I would call Alpine remote, but not an armpit. It's a beautiful area. Big Bend to the south, the Davis mountains to the north, and quintessential W Texas Marfa to the west. Plenty of entertainment for such a small town. It's a fun place to visit IMO.

From an adults point of view, especially if you enjoy the outdoors, I can see your perspective... and would agree.

My college days, I'm not so sure I would have picked Alpine for the college nightlife experience lol.

Heck, my first year of college in Abilene it felt most people left on the weekend to either Lubbock, DFW, or Central Texas area.

I think your last line sums it up. Fun place to visit (but not to live there lol).

True. My outlook is a bit different having spent most of K-12 in nowheresville USA. Expectations for night life are low!

Well tomorrow should be interesting game for the Cru. I wonder what play we will run over and over on 3rd and short?

Speed back up the middle.

Well you're playing Linfield deep in the playoffs so UMHB will probably come out running the Air Raid and throw for 500 yards.

Man I was worried about that 1st and 10 on our own half yard line.... We got lucky, shocked we would run the same short yardage run that always seems to get stuffed

Looks like the Cru should prepare for another road trip, this time to Johns Hopkins, who absolutely got gifted that game with bad officiating at the end (1. running the clock after the ball had been spiked on first down, 2. calling a phantom procedure call on the last play) not to mention calling a DPU receiver who scored out of bounds when replays showed he stayed in-bounds.

EDIT:  oops, hope I didn't just curse the Cru

Congrats Cru!

Congrats to Linfield on a great season!

Congrats Cru--you guys made the big plays today.
Go Cats!
