This was in the local paper

Personnel change

The Crusaders will have a new offensive coordinator for the 2025 season after parting ways with Andy Padron on Monday.

Padron, a UMHB graduate and former Crusaders quarterback, was the offensive coordinator for three seasons — a stretch in which the program compiled a 27-10 record with two playoff appearances, including a trip to the semifinals in 2022.

Hampered by inconsistent play at the quarterback position and an offensive line that had trouble protecting the passer at times, the Crusaders averaged just 28.5 points and 336.4 yards per game this season. It was their lowest scoring output since 2001 and lowest yardage production since 2006.

Botts already has a D1 offer from FCS Mississippi Valley State University.

Worst offense since 2001 is insane... Went 48 ppg in 2021 -> 41 ppg -> 31 ppg -> 28

Interesting that Padron is still listed as the OC on the Cru website.  Which local paper was this?

It will be interesting to see where he ends up.  Schreiner certainly has openings but that's going to be a big challenge and step down from what he's used to.

The Temple Daily Telegram so it is legit. Behind a paywall in Temple but for some reason not in Killeen (https://kdhnews.com/kdhpressbox/crusaders-move-into-offseason-after-quarterfinal-setback/article_75a8a8dc-bd03-11ef-8cf5-e7e6e2a7239b.html)

I am intrigued to see where he ends up since he does have a fairly wide experience in college and high school.

His play calling was too predictable and they were consistently in third and long situations.  Losing a lot on defense it seems.  Hope the schedule next year is nothing like this year-------no more boys club teams!

Jaylen Brazzle in the portal. Don't think he played any varsity but was pretty dynamic in the jv games I watched...

Looks like UMHB has picked up a commitment from Quinton Hall a 5'11" 185lb DB transfer from Henderson State.

Also, it appears that 2nd Team All ASC DB Kadarius Carr from hpu is considering transferring to umhb.

Anyone heard anything about candidates for the OC job?

I'm sure there were quite a few applicants.

Most of the discussion about the migration of the non-Baptist 4 to the SCAC has been about football, but we can more accurately state the it is a mission/vision thing.

This last week #2 Wartburg women's hoops team came to UMHB and lost to UMHB & to ETBU. HSU is #16 in the recent poll. With the exception of UTD,  McMurry back in the 2000's, and occasional successes by Concordia, Women's hoops have not been an emphasis at the departing ASC schools.

Cory Hogue says former OC Stephen Lee will replace Padron.  Merry Christmas a day late.
