Good players will have numbers to back up the play.  Coaches do a lot of times see players that impact other than the stats, but with that you will have some coaches vote based on how they feel about a team or another coach.   If you think that doesnt happen then your crazy.  Our conference has a team award and sometimes the team that wins that award does not have the best individual talent at each position.  I think when the voters get a little lazy the default is to go with a player on the better team.  In my opinion that is not always the best way to go.

In reply to the All-Conference selections.  I think the guys that were picked are good players and some are deserving of the awards. I think that Elex Reed is one of the best, if not the best defensive lineman in the nation(D3). If you've ever played against Elex you would admit to this. I also think that Josh Kubiak is the best safety in this conference , if not in the nation (D3). If you've ever taken a hit from Josh you would admit to this. Glover might have more stats but both players change the pace of the game significantly. I think, for the most part, each player selected dictates the outcome of each game they play in, therefore should be rewarded with the award they received. With that said, I also think some selections were insane. But we can't do anything about that. It's in the past. What UMHB can do is go to the Stagg Bowl and represent this conference and everyone of them players. Let's go UMHB.... All the way.

Here's a link to an article in the Temple Daily Telegram this morning about the new Indoor Football League that will be playing in Belton at the Bell County Expo center.  They named ther team and first player.  Team will be the Barracudas and the first player is former ASC and McMurry star Rory Peacock.  I remember his days at McMurry and he was salty!!

My apologies, then.  Link was (and I presume still is) built like the Hulk, wore #96, and played a mean DT.

And a good guy to boot.   ;)

If getting an individual award is what you need to sleep at night, I'll give you a gold star.  I'm pretty sure some guys would give up those awards to still be playing.

No doubt about that.  Since we have this message board and its about our conference then that team is something for us to talk about.

Talk and squabble all you want.  The Conference Chapionship and the playoffs are what the athletes play for.  More for the playoffs than the Conf Champ.  But you go ahead and fight for those table scraps.

It sounds like the weather will be about perfect in San Antonio on Saturday.  Last year was a misty, sloppy day.

cruprez

Ah Yes, Bill....a beautiful football day in San Antonio...will you be there?  We can hardly wait....

Bill McCabe

I'll be there.  There was a nice article today in the San Antonio Express about the game.  Of course, it is mostly about Trinity.  You can get it at www.mysantonio.com.  It seems the Trinity d line is a lot smaller than our o line.

Cruprez and Bill McCabe,

See you at the game.  Crualum39 is driving down as well.
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

It sure is nice having the game in our hometown, but I hope the next one is in Belton.

This is pretty typical for Trinity D-lines.  They've never been big.
