Warren, I agree with you for the most part.  However, last year during UMHB's run to the Stagg Bowl, there were 2 very nice articles about the CRU.  I will give them credit today for an article on the game and a columnist writing about the D3 players.

And if anybody saw the Killeen paper on friday there was a great article about Josh Kubiak on the front of the sports page. It seems to me that the community is starting to get behind UMHB like never before.

im a little late on the discussion of voting all conference awards, and i agree that the voting may not be up to par, but i would like to point out one thing.  Everyone keeps saying to look at the stats, but this is also a decieving category.  i know for a fact that, for example, Elex Reed gets substituted out of the game to keep him rested because UMHB is able to do that with the depth at d-line we have this year.  That takes away reps.  Then you have to consider when we get up on teams such as McMurry, Austin College, and Mississippi College, starters don't play the entire second half to get our younger guys reps and save injuries.  So players such as Elex Reed and Josh Kubiak do not have a chance to get stats because they are not in the game.  I know when i played Mississippi college during my junior year at UMHB, we got up fast and i played a total of 14 plays the entire game.  No chance of getting stats there.  This is a little bit of an extreme, but it helps to constitute my point.

Stats need to be taken into consideration, but there are other things to be thought of as well, such as how good the defense is.  If a defense is ranked high in the national rankings many categories, maybe your stud defensive players are pretty good...

just my .02 worth, looking forward to thoughts and replies

I would like to add my congratulations to the Crusaders for a job well done on Saturday.  No "ifs" or "buts" ... UMHB was the better team when it counted.  TU had an excellent year and made the most of what they had this season ... especially the Black Flag.  But, you can't take anything away from the Cru' ... they look like a very strong team ... especially the "D".  The line got a big push every play, the LB's blitzed at the right time and from the right direction, and the DB's kept the long ball out of the equation.

Good luck to the Cru' ... hope you win it all and represent Texas D3 all the way to the Stagg.  Win it this time, will ya?  We'll meet again, I'm sure.
Trinity Tiger Football ... where champions compete on and off the field.

Geez TigerDad... what more can I say?  The Cru were damned good and we all hope they'll rep TX and the South Region very well..... I'm trying to justify a trip to Belton to see what happens next Saturday.

Anybody know anything about this Wesley team I have never even heard of them until the playoffs this year. And to quote the great Wayne Cambell and Garth Algar

DA CRU. Lets have some predictions on the game this Saturday in which a certain team will leave the field of battle having last the game and the other team will be holdin their helments up to the sky in victory a certain team known as DA CRU DA CRU.  I am going to say Cru 58 Wesley 2. Saders 75 Wesley 10. Cru 112 Wesley 6. DA CRU. Lets say the Cru only showed up and the game with Josh Kubiak and Freddie Rollins and a certain Coach Fredenburg who would win that game? I am going to say Saders 17 Wesley 9. Cru 24 Wesley 21 on a last second field goal by Freddie.  DA CRU

Man I loved those superfans or were they talking about the bears

Notes from a proud dad,  :)

Ken DeWeese, the UMHB men's basketball coach and color man for the UMHB radio team, has a basketball game in Arkansas this Saturday.  In his place in the booth on Saturday will be none other than Crualum39, alias Bret Page.  Bret was a captain last year, the starting mike linebacker for the Cru for the previous two years and is currently coaching at nearby Harker Heights High School in Killeen.  This will be his first try at broadcasting but I know he will do a great job.  He has always had a great gift of gab   ;D

Break a leg, son !!!!
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

crualum04

Congratulations Roocru and Crualum39. Bret was a great player for the Cru. I know he will do well. Work hard this week Cru, and send them boys back to Delaware for good. Go Cru!!!

Awful quiet board for a conference with a team in the tournament that has a real good chance of winning it all.
MHB had a very convincing win over a perennial D3 football power and finally gets a chance to play at home in the playoffs.
I expect this weeks game to be a big win for the home team.
Go Cru.

Thanks for the kind words from a cru mom....this is a very busy week as the Cru and UMHB get ready to host their very FIRST PLAYOFF GAME at home!  YEAH!  I keep telling my son, stay focused, play one game at a time and we will be in Salem, VA in December....
