Ralph -- My guess is that the UMHB-Wesley game may not be over first, but it will be "decided" in the 1st Q.
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

Does anyone think that weather is really going to matter in this one?

cruprez

No, not really...the only thing the weather effects is getting up and down the bleachers....it is very slick when wet and there are no hand rails.....UMHB can play in any weather...

I am watching the GEICO 10 Greatest QB's of all time.

They highlighted Sammy Baugh as the greatest.  In the 1936 Sugar Bowl, TCU- defeated LSU 3-2, for the National Title.  Baugh had 11 punts go out of bounds inside the LSU 10 yd line, intecepted 2 passes and made 2 TD saving tackles in playing 60 minutes.

The panel of judges credit Sammy Baugh with the passing game as we know it including the audible, the short-yardage ball-control passing game and  the use of the spread formation.  He would throw 40 times a game when the average in a game was only 10.

Congratulations to Sammy Baugh from TCU, the Washington Redskins and head coach at Hardin-Simmons (when Grant Teaff was at McMurry.)

I broadcast Wesley/Ferrum last weekend...a few thoughts...

Wesley's QB is solid, not too mobile, but the athleticism of their wideouts makes up for it.  Beavers and Lee are stellar.  Nelson is just a little guy and gets all over the field from the RB position.  Wesley utilized the screen pass last week and were rather effective.

For those who think Wesley took advantage of Ferrum mistakes - they did, but it wasn't the reason for the outcome.  Without the Ferrum errors, Wesley still wins 45-14.

When I pondered this week's game - here was my major thought...

Wesley won't be a walkover for UMHB, it should be a football game.

UMHB fans... is there any tailgate action going on before today's game? While I will be unable to attend the game (except for perhaps the latter portion of the second half), I would love to stop by and visit before kick-off. We are staying at Salado with my in-laws, so let me know if and where anyone might be congregating.

The turf at the Belton stadium should take the weather out of the game.  Certainly won't be anywhere near what it was last year in Alliance!
