Yet another reason why the definition of "in-region" competition needs to be reworked, BfB.

Ron Boerger

"In-region" needs to be thrown away.  It's irrelevant and meaningless.  Or worse.  Who gives a d**n how far away you travel to play someone?

Josh Bowerman

Obviously the selection committee, Ron.

But I agree with you, 100%.

Actually, I think it's the presidents more than anything else.

I feel the biggest hole UHMB has to fill is the loss of Rojo at SS. Who takes his spot anybody know? And also I know it has been said already about UMHB's games next year but how big of a game could that Whitewater game be it could be 2 top 5 teams playing against each other. Also HSU and HPU should be strong the ASC is now a dog fight conference.

So you are saying that UMHB could challenge for the national title in 06?

Chess4Me

I'm glad to see the ASC get some recognition for their efforts to schedule D3 "playoff contenders" in their non-conference games. I believe that the only way you can be the best is to play the best. How the ASC fares against the other perennial playoff contenders gives a more accurate reflection of the strength of the conference as a whole. It helps all the teams to know how they "measure up". My hat's off to all the programs across D3 that have made that attempt, as well.

I would like to see the ASC known and recognized as the strongest D3 football conference in the country, and the only way they can do that is to prove it on the field. After watching many conference games over the past 8 years, I've seen a steady improvement in all of the teams, so this aggressive scheduling, in my opinion, is a very good thing to see. Time will tell if it pays off, as I think it will!

I think UMHB lost 4 starters on the O-line.  That is the biggest hole to fill in my opinion.

The In-region definition has expanded.  Linfield vs HSU, Menlo vs McMurry and "WIAC vs Texas" are now "in-region".

Ralph...so the Whitewater/UMHB outcome will be a factor in the West region play off seedings?

Ralph Turner

Good Afternoon,  Kenneth!

Yes, the UMHB-UWW game will count as an in-region game as if UMHB had played Trinity or and will have the same impact on Regional Rankings as the CNU game.

As I understand the change, UMHB plays 10 "in-region" games.

Ralph--

Thanks for sharing, that's GREAT news for us!  I'm not sure it's great news for all the teams in the middle Atlantic (like McDaniel, Hopkins, Susquehanna, et. al.)  through the rest of the northeast, but hey--they threw us outliers a bone, and I'm thankful!
