Hey, now....

Seeing RT in purple and gold wouldn't be half bad--but the other purple and gold in the ASC is what I had in mind!  :)
...
I am sorry y'all, but I would really have a hard time doing purple and gold!

As for Ramonce Taylor, he can do "purple and gold" at Texas College!

That would bring some excitment to ASC, if Keeling got RT he would get his national championship.  He does great with good talent, but if he got great talent like this it would be something.

If the dude had academic issues at a football factory school, no way in h*ll he could pass the muster at HSU or UMHB.  Not to mention ... no athletic scholarships and neither are cheap compared to u.t.

+1 Bonzo! :)

Texas College is probably where he needs to be.  It is the about as close as he can get at home, get a football scholarship and not lose a year to sitting out a year!

I, too, hope he can turn his life around!

With nothing to do but look at last years roster I was wondering how many players will make it back this year.  HSU had 182 players listed on their 05 media roster.  I compared that to the roster that has been updated  on their website (I suspect following spring enrollment) and I noticed that 67 players were not on the list anymore.  Then take away the 20 seniors and HSU should have 95 players back this coming year from last years team.  I'm sure that not all 95 will be back for what ever reason (things happen in the summer) so I'm curious to see how many actually come back.  I bet they only lose another 10 to 20 players out of that 95.  If that is true then the Cowboys would return roughly 70 - 80 players.  Not bad numbers for reloading.  But compared to the 182 that started the season last year -- that is a big drop off!  Just curious if any other teams are similiar to HSU in numbers?  Retention?  Or am I the only person on here that is so dang boared and anxious for the season to start  that I have to look at stuff like this?

HPU is kind of in the same situation.  They will have a solid core of players coming back but not near the numbers that they started with last year.  Hopefully they have recruited well and will have a lot of quality freshman players coming in. Can't wait for the season to start.

As far as R. Taylor goes, I've seen him play in high school and college.  He is a great tallent but has had character issues since his high school days.  I'm not trying to talk bad about the man, it is just a shame that he has chosen the path that he has chosen.  I can understand why any coach would have reseverations about taking him onto their team.  He will not go DIII due to no athletic scholarships and too small of a stage to play on.  I can not beleive that he would go to an NAIA school.  Maybe their academic transfer/eligibility requirement are not as tough.

Anyway I do hope the best for the young man and pray that he makes better choices the rest of his life.

Another note on Ramonce Taylor:  The way I understand it, and I may be wrong, is that the NCAA will not allow a player to be eligible with a pending felony on his/her record.  That is probably the reason that Taylor is going to an NAIA school.

Indians

I saw where that college has taken a few players from Texas, one was a starting d-end, mike williams.  He must be one bad apple for Texas not to cover that up, he is a great athlete.  He would be against everything I respect and appreciate about D3 football.  He had everything all D3 palyers want as far as talent, but like the old saying goes you do not appreciate it until is gone.   From 100K people on sat. to 2K. oh well.

I just read the preseason preview for TLU.  I hope this sets the standard for the rest of the conference.  Very informative.
I hope McM will post something this year, I know they haven't for the past 5 years I have been watching the program.

Bill McCabe

Replacing Salinas will be huge at TLU.  They may have played people close in their 2005 losses, but I was surprised they lost 5 games.  I was also very surprised that they beat HSU in the final game.  Winning one of those close games early in the season could be the catalyst that pushes them to a great season.

Ralph,  I'm looking forward to this season even more than usual.  I get to actually see a game.  I am going to HSU homecoming as per it is my 30th class reunion.   Yeah, I know it is against Sul Ross,  but you take what you can get. I did get to see HSU play Menlo out here in California a few years ago but there were only about 100 HSU fans so I'm looking forward to seeing them in Texas.
I might even go see a Texas high school game.

HSU has a very good season preview on their website.  After reading it I'm very pumped up about the season.

I hadn't realized they had that many football recruits visit.
