I heard Bomar was planning on moving to Malibu, making some shady associations with some Israeli mobsters, establishing street cred in the underground LA rap scene, training for a year, and then planning on going to the combine, being drafted in the third round by the broncos, getting cut before he ever plays a down in a preseason game, and then commiting many penal offenses before being spotted in car with four guns a hatchet and a bullet proof vest.....

I just can't believe that story...too far fetched, fantasy land, you must have really been dreaming to come up with a story like that!  Heck it would take like a Hiesman candidate or something to be able to do that.

:)

CruGuy

wait...Heisman candidate ??? what's that ? you must mean Gagliardi trophy finalist...oh no, Gagliardi trophies only go to athletes with character

It is a shame how bad things can get.

From the UMHB website:

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team put on full pads for the first time in the 2006 fall camp Saturday morning. The Crusaders went through a spirited, two-hour practice cut a little short after the coaches liked what they saw in the team's "Oklahoma" inside drill.

"We had some really great effort today and the guys really got after each other," Crusader head coach Pete Fredenburg said. "The technique wasn't where it needed to be, though. We have a lot of work to do as a coaching staff. We also need to make sure that we evaluate our personnel and have guys in the right place to help us the most."

The Crusaders have 164 players in camp right now with the possibility of 14 more reporting when classes start next Wednesday. The team will go through an evening practice tomorrow and a single practice Monday morning. The UMHB football team will hold its only day of two-a-day practice on Tuesday.
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Are D 1 athletics really to blame in the maurice clarrett (sp?) saga???? I know many D 1 athletes participating in a broad range of sports who have experienced ranging degrees of success who don't act like that. At some point in time, our society really has to put the blame where it belongs when individuals make bad choices. D 1 athletics provided a number of opportunities for Maurice Clarrett that he otherwise would not have had and he blew it.

Bill McCabe

Crukid,  There are many D 1 athletes that would not be able to go to a university, except they are great athletes.  Your right, there are many good people in D 1 athletes, but there are a lot of bad apples that should have never been there in the first place.  Everyday we read or hear about d 1 athletes that are being arrested for various crimes or suspended from their teams.  When athletic prowess comes before academics, you are asking for trouble.

On a football note:

I went and saw the Cowboys practice yesterday.

It was so dang hot.  All these players have my respect.  I had a hard time just watching practice.  Some notables:

•   They had a ton of freshman out there.
•   The defense looked very good although they did get burned deep by Carrillo once.
•   Pat Shelby is a beast.  He is going to be a very good player.  Made several great 1 handed catches that brought some cheers from the players.
•   The defense has some major size.  The MLB (Eric Daniels) looked like the incredible Hulk.  He is huge.
•   The running backs caught a lot of passes out of the backfield yesterday.
•   It is true that Will Galusha was playing offense.  He was lining up wide.  There were several receivers that made some good catches so I bet that there will be some good competition at that position.
•   The safety spots (where my son plays) also had a lot of players going in and out.  Looks like my boy is going to have to pick it up as I didn't see him in with either the first or second group.  Of course it is only one week into practice.  So he needs to show something.
•   It was so dang hot.  Those boys from Wisconsin and Oregon are going to be feeling that heat when they get down here.

Overall evaluation is they looked good.

The season kicks off in two weeks! Are any of the McMurray posters headed out to CA for the Menlo game? Although I am a Linfield fan, it is much too far to see many Wildcat games so I head over to the SF Bay area and catch Menlo games. I would be cool to meet up with any that can make it.

Cheers.

Pat Coleman

Dunno if Jamie McMurray has any posters here. They're probably on NASCAR boards.

Thanks for proving my point. They were bad apples before they got into D 1 athletics, there are many d 3 athletes that get arrested and suspended from their teams too. I also know several chemistry students that have been arrested and suspended from their respective institutions. I certainly don't think we should stop studying chemistry. Athletics is not to blame in this situation, bad decision making is.

Well, Mark Martin did a good job of holding off Junior today! ;D

No, I don't know of anyone going to Menlo.  Some parents might.
