Given results of the previous five games, I think all of us HSU fans should take a wait-and-see approach to the game.

This is a rivalry game, and those can always go either way.  I'm cautiously optimistic, but the Crusaders will be up for this one and at home.  Plus, if they lose, they're basically out of it.  Those three factors shouldn't be weighed lightly.

Also, crow doesn't taste good, whether it's served hot or cold--and it's always good to remember that.

Not necessarily so Josh.  If HSU wins and then loses a game to someone else, HPU or SRSU ;) and MHB wins out, MHB is the conference champ because of LC cancellation and HSU is waiting for a pool C.  In theory, UMHB could lose three games this season and still be the pool A bid from the ASC.  I don't think it happens like that, but it COULD happen.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

mhb8904, that would be a shame if that happens.  I think a 1 loss HSU gets a bid, but I'm not sure about a Pool C for a 2 loss UMHB.

Interesting facts from the Around the Region article:

This from Greg Weghorst and the ASC Media Relations Department:
-> FACT: The winner of all eight regular season meetings has won at least a share of the ASC title.
-> FACT: The road team has won the last four meetings and six of the nine meetings all-time.
-> FACT: The team with the halftime lead has gone on to win every time.
-> FACT: The team that has won the turnover battle has won every game.

Can't wait for Saturday to get here.  Should be a great game.

I am just excited that this game will be competitive as it is every year.  I do think that it is interesting how the home team has lost the last four meetings also.  I was involved with the first 3 of those 4 and can say that they were all very hard fought games.  Personally I am hoping for a good game with a home-team victory for UMHB.  The last time the two teams played really close throughout the game was 3 years ago @ HSU.  It came down to the end.  We had to make a first down so that HSU would not get the ball back and try to go ahead with a TD.  That was a great day for football.  I just hope that both teams play up to there potential, so it will be worth the trip for me.  It will take me a couple of hours to get there, but I think it will be well worth it.  Good luck. Go cru! Control the ball and the clock with the running game!! :)

crualum75, that was the most competitive game I've seen between the 2 schools.  We were on the edge of our seats until the very end.  Of course, that was the year ETBU got the bid with the goofy tie breaker, while UMHB and HSU sat home.

Here is another scenario...

UMHB can defeat HSU, and then lose to Mississippi College, which goes on to run the ASC table.  UMHB would be co-champs with Miss Coll and see the Pool A bid go to the Choctaws.

The LC-HSU game certainly makes for strange scenarios. :o

Ralph, thanks for that heads up.  That would be strange.  HSU wins Saturday and they will be the ASC champs.  UMHB needs to win out to control their own fate.

Hey, no one dead here.  I just moved across to the other side of texas.  Man it sure is humid here.  And everything is green.  Go Cowboys.  No doubt the Cowboys will win 'em all and make a deep run into the playoffs.  Sorry to the rest of the conference.  Great day to be young and a Cowboy.

I have enjoyed reading all the discussion this week.  Wish it was like this every week.  Anyway, I can't wait for the big game too.

I think that this game will come down to turnovers and big plays. As do most football games, especially between these two teams. I think that Mr. Allman summed it up in his around the South region.
"HSU -- Throw it then throw it some more. Just don't throw it to the other team.
UMHB -- Run it. Don't ever throw it. And when you run it don't drop it."

UMHB should also be successful in the play-action pass game the better the running game is doing.  If Jordan Neal can continue to make good decisions, as I am sure he will, it will definitely be a high scoring event.  UMHB must be able to run the ball in order for the Offensive scheme to work properly. I, of course, happen to think they will be able to do just that.  I would also like to see continued success from some guys from my high school alma mater now @ UMHB.  So good luck to Jarvis Thrasher and Derrick Williams.  Hopefully it will be a score-after-score game.  As a former Olineman, it is always fun to see points put on the board especially in the running game. :)
