Ralph,

HSU will be #1 in my mind until somebody beats them.  I'm not sure the ASC has improved as much as thought earlier.  I think some of the weaker teams in the past have improved to middle tier, but I don't believe any have gained that much on HSU and UMHB.  I'm really surprised by ETBU, TLU and to some extend HPU.  I really don't know what to make of their loss to SRU.  If they don't have a defense, they are going to lose some more games.

I know we're all getting ready for great games tomorrow, but here's something that should be of interest to folks concerned with the NCAA's treatment of McMurry:

IF UND wins its suit against the AA, then precendent would be on the side of McMurry, I'd think.

You would think the NCAA has more to do than regulate mascots and nicknames.  :(

Heck, and here I thought the AA would be busy trying to keep a hold of its non-profit status.   ;D

My thoughts on the conference are that the middle have gotten stronger relative to the NCAA as a whole.

The HPU wins over NAIA schools are tough to judge.  It is looking like Menlo loss by McMurry was not that bad.  Anything that Austin College does in the SCAC is to our good.  I think that UMHB was given a first game pass.  TLU's wins over Trinity and AC and MC's and LC's wins over Millsaps are plusses.

SRSU only plays one non-conference game, and they won it.
ETBU?  They jury is still out.

When the Indianapolis folks eschew making money, Mt. Union will drop football in favor of men's netball (or maybe co-ed cricket) ....

Bill, I agree for the most part with your #1-#9, but i would have McM over HPU.  Just a theory, but i think McM will win that matchup this year.  Especially if HPU is prone to giving up points.

Update on the mascot issue from Northeastern (Oklahoma) State in Muskogee, OK.

They were the Redmen and now have narrowed the options to 6:

"The finalists include Thunderhawks, Thunderbirds, Riverhawks, Riverwolves, War Eagles, and Wolves. "

What river runs thru Muskogee?  The Arkansas River.

HSUpt,  You may be right.  I think the games today will give us a much better idea about where the teams stand in the conference.  TLU-HPU and McM-ETBU really intrigue me.  I still can't figure out HPU.

Bill McCabe

I think if the UMHB defense comes up with a combination of turnovers and sacks that equals 6, they win the game.  Go CRU!
