I haven't seen anything on here about the official's call on the opening kickoff.  The "fair catch" was one of the worst calls I've ever seen.  The player shielded his eyes from the sun and then the head referee had no idea what had been called and he was the closest person to the returner.  I'm sure the officiating crew knew it was a bad call because they never flagged Coach Fred for being 35 yards on the field.   :o  That could have been a huge play in a big game.  UMHB's fullback went 20 yards on the first play to get them out of the hole.  I will chalk it up to the official being nervous in a big game.

Seriously (OK, I said that before) -- Where are the MC people? ??? For crying out loud, you people were throwing smack all around when you were beating up on Millsaps, etc.
Now that you lost to HSU and LC (!!!???) you are nowhere to be found.
It is said that MC looked pretty good against HSU for the 1st Q. How could that team lose to LC? My predictions in the "Pick'em" were bad enough already this past week -- 50-50 at best. I figured MC over LC was a lock. But nooooooooo. >:(
Good grief! (Come on, man, get a grip. Deep breaths. Deep breaths.)
There, I am better now. ;D
Dear Friends from east of the Big Muddy -- How are you? And how is your team doing? Are there problems and issues which would explain their recent demise -- and of which we are unaware?

baddog, easy.  They had a rough Saturday.

Bill -- Yeah. I ran out of my Prozac yesterday. What was it Lloyd Bridges' character said in the great flick, "Airplane"? "I picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue."
But, seems that when UMHB lost to CNU, they were still on the board.
And "minni", HSU fan extraordinary, has been back on board, and chewing on the crow like a big boy -- and like we all should when we have it coming.
Plus, I really would like to know how the team that was 3-0 (beating TLU) and gave HSU a scare lost to LC. (And LC people, please do not take that as a slam.)

baddog, I would love to hear about the LC-MC game.

And, come to think of it, we have not heard much of anything from LC people. :-\

I'd like to hear from TLU and ETBU.  I was surprised by the outcome of those games.

Hey, Bill, according to their site, MC plays LaGrange next week. Maybe when they win (my prediction) they will be back with us.

I was down in the corner of the endzone closest to the UMHB player that fielded the opening kickoff.  If I were an official, I probably wouldn't have ruled the players hand gesture a fair catch signal, but I can see why the official might have seen it otherwise.  It ultimately had no impact on the outcome of the game, so I walked away thinking that it was just one of those quirky things that happens from time to time.   :P

Josh, That call could have been disastrous for UMHB.  I'm also glad it didn't have any outcome on the game.  The official really blew that one.  He was probably the only person in the stadium that thought the returner was signalling fair catch.

And here is MC's:

Neat photo on the MC website.  It shows a MC player knocking the helmet off a LC player.

Do I also see that he knocked the do-rag off the guy as well? :D ??? ::) :o :D ;) 8)

Bill -- Nope. Like I said, it is just kind of funny that some people -- unlike minni, for example -- cannot just suck it up and say, "Boy, was I wrong about my team. They actually can be beaten. Congratulations to the winner!" That should not be so hard for anyone to do.
We all are (and should be) proud of our teams. But some can shout real loudly when winning, but cannot deal with it when a loss comes along.
Most of the regular/frequent posters have had their (our) moments of eating crow. But they (we) take their (our) "licks" and keep on posting. That is part of what makes this site so much fun.
