You never know how it will turn out until you give the man a chance, he knows football, not saying he is going to get the job, but he knows what he is doing and how to handle the players.  I enjoyed playing for him and I can think of many teammates that would say the same.  Rev. Libby and Dr. Russell will do what is best for the McMurry Indians.

About the wins for McM.  I do not think of too many schools that have won a lot of games have less than 10 Seniors. SRSU did it this year, surprised me and a lot of other posters. SRSU coaching staff did a wonderful job. I know that when I came to McM we had 62 Freshman in my class, my Senior year I played with 8 Seniors. 3 of the 8 played all 4 years, I was lucky and honored enough to be one of them.  It is hard to win with inexperience. No matter who the coach is.  That is something that HSU/UMHB have been able to do, not only do they have depth, they also have the experience at the depth.  That is what, on top of other things, makes them so good year in and year out.  Being able to keep the players in the system will help McM in years to come.  We have to keep kids in the system, in school to have a successful  season.  Rev. Libby knows this, he was incharge of keeping student athletes in the classroom, that is the challenge in my opinion.  Winning will come with experience, not only on the coach's behalf but also with the players.  Like the HSU's/UMHB's in the conference.

I went to the McM official site and Coach Gray has been named the "interim coach" to guide the team into the off season and recruiting.

finkle89,
You are right.  That is why you need the right guy.  I will nto harp on it anymore.  It was a slow afternoon, enjoyed the conversation.  I enjoy reading the website.    I mean think about the concept, D3 we play for free, go to expensive schools, and pay back big loans.   Without winning or having a person put you in a postion to win, why stay.  I give you credit for staying, because I would have left.  mcMurry is a nice school in a nice town, new facilites, it is time.  I mean it is boring watching us lose.  By a little or a lot.  In the late 90's it was fun to watch them win.  I saw the talent and it was not bad, but there were choices the other coaches made they should not have.

4 and 89, I thought both were good players

haha, well thank you very much, i think it was just a good secondary coach!!

I have only one comment concerning the pairing of UMHB and HSU in the first round. I hope the members of NCAA committee are able to sleep well after perpetrating such a travesty. Both teams earned and deserve better.

Sender: thank you for the complement.  I agree about the playing for the love of the game, going to expensive university's.  that is the great thing about dIII football.
good luck to HSU and UMHB, stinks that we will loose an ASC team this week.

finkle89

The love of the game is great about DIII not the expensive part, had to explain that.

I do not agree with the HSU/UMHB game is played so early in the playoff's, this is a key game not only for this part of the bracket but the entire tournament. Either one of these teams can represent the ASC in this tournament for many weeks to come, but now we will take one out right off the bat.

It will also guarantee one moves on.

It's not exactly like we've got two unbeatable juggernauts squaring off here. A two-loss two-seed and a 9-1 three is nothing to complain about.

(plays devil's advocate)

It would have made more sense if the seeds held and this game took place next week, but I guess they didn't want to take the chance that one might lose and bring an extra flight into the mix.

A couple ETBU notes.

Chad Glover will represent ETBU in the aztec bowl.

And now our biggest win of the year.

The East Texas Baptist University Football Field at Ornelas Stadium was recently named by the Texas Turfgrass Association as there choice for Football Field of the Year. The association awards fields in the following catagory:Football, soccer, baseball, and softball. There are several factors that are considered by the panal. They look at overall apperance from every angle, quality of the turfgrass, equipment used on the field, maintenance program, number of employees, and budget. This was the first year that we submitted a nomination for the award and was very pleased with the results. The athletic fields are under the direction of Athletic Field Supervisor Randy Hicks and his staff which include Brian Morey and Johnny Green. Randy will travel to Austin in December to the Texas Turfgrass Conference where he will be awarded the plaque.

That is the difference between 48 inches of annual rainfall in Marshall and 24 inches in Abilene! :D ;D ;)

My 2 favorite stadiums in the ASC are at ETBU and HSU.  Great setting for football.

Bad news for HSU fans :).....

Whenever I attend the HSU and UMHB games UMHB is undefeated.  I will be traveling down to Belton tomorrow morning.
