I owe you an apology, Toby.  I AM sorry about not calling--I hope that I can make it up to you sometime in the future--maybe Joe Allen's?   :-\

No problem.  I've only eaten at Joe Allen's once, and the burger was great, so if you're ever in town and want to go. . . I'm game.

So how was the ride home?  Did Ralph have a calming effect?
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Z--

It was nice to finally meet you today.  I've got a nice picture of you and your son (with your sign) that should be up in the Photo Gallery section of the front page at some point tomorrow.

Yes, but only because he slept for half the ride home!  (most likely to avoid my bitching and moaning about the game)   :)

I tried to sleep, but dang it, I was driving! :P

you're right....I think Bob went to bed anyway.....I'll continue any discussions over in the other thread...sorry about that

Sorry, I'm probably more than a little bit grouchy, CNU.  Bad day in Belton today.   Please don't hold it against me long-term.  :-\

Life's too short......I'll bump up your Karma  ;D and hit the sack! Things will look better in the morning. A bad weekend for CNU sports....hoops opened with their first opening day loss in 10 years and they almost never lose at home (104-15 since '99). Then today's game! And Tuesday the hoops team goes to the defending National Champs home court.......geezzz.....I just depressed myself......

I think they're pretty good for the most part, Toby.  I'm uploading the thumbnails as I type this, and will have the full res versions tomorrow.  There might even be a shot of you in the bunch, you never know!   :)

Sorry I couldn't make the trip today, Josh and Ralph.  I just got back home about half an hour ago.  Are either of you going to make the W& game?  I'll be in SA celebrating Thangiving with the family so I'm out.

Josh Bowerman

Ron, I'll be in Midland doing the same with my clan.

The "sleep" was meditation to soothe the hurt!  I must not have been sending off any calming vibrations! :-\

It has been so long since McMurry has had a football playoff game that I was just checking out the experience!

Did anyone get the attendance?

Ron, I will be in Colorado visiting my grandson!

Sounds like shades of Bob Stoops after the Sooners loss to Oregon this year.

For the sake of argument, let's say the call was wrong. Every game has calls that are questionable and even wrong. Remember the first meeting with HSU opened with the ref saying the UMHB return man had signaled for a fair catch on the kickoff on the 5 yard line. That was a blown call for sure.

The call resulted in a 1st down for the CRU. HSU could have stopped them and got the ball back. They didn't. In all my years of following football,

Let me see if I get this right... the first HSU vs UMHB game Neal had a "bad" game and the CRU won on fluke plays. In the rematch the refs conspire against HSU (I know that no one has said this, but it sure has been implied by at least one poster ) and one call "gives" the CRU the game. Sounds like a bit from "Hee-Haw": "Gloom, despair and agony on me. Deep dark depression excessive misery. If weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all. Gloom, despair and agony on me."

I expect my karma to fall (don't ya just love the anonymous [i.e. coward] nature of the smite  ;) ), but I just grow weary of whinning. UMHB went to CNU and did not play well in the first game of the season and got beat. They did not deserve to win. Against UWW, they did not execute on the opening kickoff and the offense did not execute in the red zone, and they lost. Who knows, next week they might lose to W&J. But no whinning... bad calls by the officials, mistakes by players, fumbles, interceptions, poor coaching decisions, etc... are all part and parcel of every game. I believe that you win like a man and you lose like a man.

It is unfortunate indeed that HSU and UMHB had to meet in the first round. It would be great to have them meet in the 3rd round for the South chapionship (of course pigs will fly before that will ever happen). I did not look forward to the CRU facing HSU for a second time. It is really hard to beat a good team twice in the same season.

Congratulations to HSU on a very good season and to Jordan Neal on a stellar career - what a competitor.

GO CRU... the playoff express is rolling.

So Pete wasn't whining to the refs to change their call?  You can't have it both ways, Catland.

I will say that I think the game was pretty well played, today.  HSU did not give up big special teams plays or turn the ball over.  UMHB executed well.  I don't think either team played their absolute best, but both were far from playing their worst.

Which is precisely why the officiating mistakes at critical times were the difference.  The momentum change in the stadium was palpable.  You weren't there, so you really don't know otherwise, now, do you?

Poll results:

Who wins the rematch?
HSU all the way -12 (30.8%)
UMHB of course    -25 (64.1%)
It'll go OT -0 (0%)
I'm voting for the "Indians"-2 (5.1%)
