Gray Fox

There is an article on USA today on the Stagg Bowl

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/2006-12-13-focus-salem_x.htm

Note that Coppell, Texas is bidding for future games.  That would be great for most of us ASC fans.

Fierce When Roused

that would be awesome if the Stagg Bowl could be in Coppell, but is there really a chance for it to happen. Like the article said most D3 schools are located somewhat close to Salem and not really close at all to Texas.

Gray Fox

crufootball,

As we've seen so many times before, the NCAA seems to look at the dollar logic above any other.

very true, gray fox.

for all of us ASC fans I hope that Coppell can come up with the money to get the game. I know I would attend no matter who is in the game if it was in Texas, but especially if the Crusaders were playing.

What does a head coach at one of the ASC schools make, just a guess?  40K I thought, maybe 50K, it could not be much more.  I do not know.

probably in the window of 65-85k

That is interesting about the Stagg Bowl possibly moving to Coppell.  My wife and I lived there from 1996-2001.  I would love to see Coppell step up and get this bid.  It would be great for the city of Coppell, but also for D3 football in Texas.

And now comes the slowest 8 months of the year until football starts up again.

crufootball, you are right.  I'll be anxious to hear how the teams do recruiting and in their spring practice.

I saw that game Saturday, Mt. Union/whitewater.  They were both big and fast and strong.  What do you think the score would be between Mt. Union and a sam Houston state?  I saw Sam this year and I think they would match up, if not beat them.  What you think?

I think that would be a great thing.  I know my senior year back in 04 McNeese State offered HSU a game and we turned it down with thoughts of a National Championship and not wanting to lose anyone to injury.  I think it is a completely different level of football at that level, I dont know if Mt. Union would win but I think it would be a great game to see.

I was reading the paper the other day and they had the final top 25 and I saw where uw/la crosse beat the 23rd ranked 1-aa team South Dakota.  I guess I was wandering if someone in the conference a top team had the chance to play a school like that.  You answered my question.  I would like to see that one day that Hsu or UMHB would play a school like that.  If they did not have the expansion of all the teams and the talent was more condensed and with the americansouthwest conf popularity, it would be there.  Then again without all the new schools it may not be as popular.  Either way, I saw UMHB this year and I saw Sam and there is a difference but not  a huge one.  They just had bigger lineman and not by much.  Just thoughts to pass the time.

The St. Paul (MN) Pioneer Press is reporting that Jim Good of TLU (their associate head coach) will be hired as the Hamline (MN) head coach.  Is this a surprise to the TLU fans?  What is the rap on him?

edit: misspelling.  My apologies.
