The only problem is the WAC and conference USA would never make it to the big games and big payouts.  They would have to play top teams every week and they will not have the depth to do it.

I just like the idea for one game, one moment in time, the little guy who was told you are too small, not fast enough, not big or strong enough can line up against the 5 star first round pick and say not today you motha @#@#$%.  This is for all the guys who never caught a break or where not 6'7 350 or run a true 4.4, for that day they are old school.

Does anybody know if U of Mobile or Spring Hill is looking at Football?
Do you think they will in the next couple of years?

Anybody out there have any inklings as to whom HSU might be replacing UW-Stevens Point on the schedule with this year?

I have been wondering this myself.

I haven't heard anything yet.

On the D1 playoff discussion...If its going to be a D1 playoff every conference needs to at least have a shot.  Take the 11 conference champions + the top 5 in whatever BcS system chosen and play it out.  With 5 at large bids based on ranking, the non-conference and conference seasons remain important.  Then use some set of bowl games for the venues.  The rest of the bowl games could fill the air waves during the week, like they do now, and give people an out for crappy rerun TV (as long as its not some of the bowl stinkers we've had this year)
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

The non-playoff bowls act like the NIT in that case, an extra game for a few select teams, especially those teams that wish to coerce their fans to buy another ticket.  Besides, it will be the corporations that buy up the big tickets anyway.

I've been away for a few days and saw the posts about HSU replacing UWSP on their schedule.  Did one of the schools cancel?  If so, didn't something like this happen a few years ago?  Why the cancellation?

Bill, I assumed that it was a 2-year contract (2005, 2006).

Thanks Ralph.  It did happen to HSU before and they played Sul Ross twice.  I was hoping that was not the case again.

I am sure that many of you have noticed that the Euless Trinity Trojans are featured in the Gatorade Commercial that we are seeing in the BCS Tostitos Bowl.

Great commercial.  I played at Arlington Martin and played against Trinity.  They had a great team back then too.

Very good article on SI web site about Birmingham Southern going from DI to DIII and the effects it has had on the school by Frank Deford.  Here is the link.

Great article!  Now, when do we see football at Concordia and/or Schreiner?  Ozarks?  LeTU?

I don't think that we have a lack of high school football talent in Texas.  There are nearly 500 5A and 4A teams in the state, on which there were three graduating seniors who were good enough to play ASC ball.  They just didn't see the possibilities.  If we were to get just one of those players to commit to D3, that is another 500 players, easily enough to field teams at 6 more schools.  (We are not even talking about the players at D1's, D1-AA's and D2's who would get more PT at an ASC or players from AAA, AA or A.)

I think that the OAC is so good, because those teams have been doing D3 for 35 years.  They are getting the next generation of players.

LeTU played football at one time.  Ralph, I would think Concordia would be a natural to add football, particularly with their new campus.  Schreiner's location would be a plus, also.

Ralph Turner

McMurry used to play Schreiner Institute.  I cannot find a score for McMurry playing LeTU.  LeTU is only 60 years old, and only became a 4-year institution in 1961. :)
