geesh who wouldnt want that... i mean hell HSU has alot of away games this year.  The past two years on their furthest away games its seems a hurricane has been coming. Two years ago against MC they played in the hurricane and then this past season it might as well been a hurricane with all the rain. At MC the sky was twirling and the wind was just outrageous.. SULLY ROSS is always a pretty far trip too. I dont mind the scenery though. Does anybody remember a Dennis Freels from Sul Ross back in the NAIA days ...

I agree about the whole mexican teams. I just dont seem them having any kind of talent really whats so ever in football.. But hell if it was futbol.. im sure we would of gotten are butts handed to us!

SR97

Futbol would be a totally different story.

I just can't imagine the score if a D-I team played these teams instead of a D-III.

HSU only has Linfield return game, MissColl, ETBU and Sul Ross away (plus McMurry).

:D :D :D

That cross-town drive is one of the defining features of the ASC! :-\

Bill McCabe

True, Sul Ross to Mississippi by bus.

Will ETBU & McM be different (scheme wise) and better record wise?

For the 2006 season, change these three things and we have a 7-way tie for 3rd place at 3-5.

1)  the Inevitable -- HSU goes on to defeat LaCollege in the Thunderstorm game
2)  the What-if -- LaCollege blocks the last-second FG by TLU
3)  the Upset -- McMurry beats SRSU.

Just received a flyer in the mail from H-S U's alumni office advertising the fact that the Cowboys, for the 06 - 07 academic year, made the playoffs in every team sport.  Not living in the Abilene area, and thus being away from Abilene newspaper (which is really a daily rag for the benefit of ACU), I wasn't aware of this feat.  Does anyone know if this is actually true or not? ???

Yep. It refers to ASC tournaments and NCAA playoffs. :)
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

Bill McCabe

That is quite an accomplishment for HSU.  They have an outstanding program and are a model for other schools to follow.

dballa

Actually it only means ASC postseason play.  It does not include NCAA playoffs although a lot of their teams did make it to the NCAA playoffs.

dballa,  that is something all of the ASC programs should aspire to achieve.  I count 12 sports in which HSU fields teams.  To have them all qualify for post season play is amazing.

Of the 12 sports in which HSU competes, only Men's golf is a "little" suspect.

The ASC has an "all-comers" Golf Championship Tourney (as opposed to basketball or soccer where the better teams are invited.  The "all-comers" applies to Cross Country and Track as well).  However, HSU golfer Kristin Martin was invited to the nationals (NCAA's) as an at-large individual so that should count.  (Last year HSU did not compete in  either Cross Country or Track and Field).

This year, the teams that made the NCAA playoffs and their Directors' Cup totals include:

75)    TLU  253.375pts
T81)   HSU  223
85)    MC  217
117)  McM  161.75
181)  UMHB  95
T212)  HPU  64
228)   UT-D 53.5
T233)  LC  50
