I think it would be kinda cool if the HSU-MCM game adopted a charity to benefit, too.  It wouldn't matter necessarily which one, but the idea is great.   Maybe Ralph and I could help make this happen....

Kudos to MC and Millsaps for their spirit of community involvement.
Josh, the January basketball game is the Kiwanis' charity event.  By the time that McMurry and HSU are playing football,  (the latter more adeptly than the former   :-\ ) high school football is in full swing, and so it may be harder to mobilize volunteers than mid to late January, when everyone is trying to get into a routine.

And don't the Indians let the Lions Club of Abilene make money off one of the early (maybe the home opener?) games?  Let's take this a step further, and let McM and H-SU have homecoming the SAME weekend, and play the game at Shotwell, with a charitable twist to it?

Sorry, but now that we have the upgraded field, and we have the upgrades for the stadium in the Capital Campaign, I really don't want to take any games away from Indian Wilford Moore Stadium.  :)

Watched HSU's last 7 on 7 this past wednesday and although several key players werent present I was extremely impressed with 2 of the transfers. Adam Podzemny from UTEP runs some amazing routes. His cuts are very deceptive and has the ability to get secondary turned around very easily.  Also Clint Bricker from SFA has also been equally impressive. His speed and size are unique to this conference and he has a very strong arm. It should be interesting and fun to see these guys come in and play with the likes of Mychal Carrylo Matt Fields Q jones and all the other returners.

Does anyone have any other info on transfers to the other schools in the ASC?

well i said his speed was rare to the conference...but i might have to take that back seeing as how UMHB's linebackers seem to be able to catch anyone...jerrell freeman is similar to a vacuum cleaner...so to make it short his speed is impressive for a QB

As a UWW fan and someone who has had the pleasure of watching Elliott play in person in the greatest game I have ever witnessed, (Linfield/UWW, 05 for West Region Championship,) I don't believe that there are many, if any, D-3 QB's that can come close to him.   In fact, there are plenty of D-1 QB's that couldn't come close.  He was amazing!!!

Unfortunately I never got to see him play I just heard about him.  What was it that made him such an amazing player?  Was it his leadership or was he just that developed as a passer that no one rivaled him?

For one thing, he was a D-I QB for a couple of years until he decided that he'd rather go somewhere he could start as opposed to being Alex Smith's clipboard holder.   He was the starter at Utah until a wrist injury set him back - prior to that it was Smith watching.

Yup, great story.  Only other option would have been a lateral tranfer to D-1 and a loss of a year of eligibility.  So he decided to spend his last two years playing close to home for the Cats and winning national championships.  He got one but the Hawks ruined his plans for the second ring.   ;)  His greatest talent was his amazingly accurate and lightening quick release.  Killed you on the short passes.  Ball gone so fast hitting WR's right out of their cuts that the D didn't even have time to react.

Linfield owes Texas A&M a great deal, i'd say ;D
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

In my opinion, it will be as difficult for HSU to replace Neal as it was for Linfield to replace Elliott.  Jordan Neal was the heart and soul of the HSU team.

Who is expected to be the starting QB at HSU?

I wateched the very end of the Japan/USA game on TV  yesterday. Kubiak was a beast. I'm glad he graduated!!

I saw about a quarter.  That Japan team was good.  They had 3 Nfl Europe players playing for them.  There is no way that a D3 team would have beat them or the USA team.  Both teams were top 50 D1 teams.

Losing Brett was a huge deal but I think a loss that was on Par for the 2006 'Cats was the WR's Linfield lost....Casey Allen, Brandon Hazenberg, and Brad McKechnie.  If you watch the first 4 minutes of this clip you can see that group (#8, #3, and #29) just made Brett that much better.

It sounds like HSU has a number of great playmakers returning so I would think the Cowboy offense will be just fine.

Bout to be football season again, and should probably get back into the swing of things again.

First off hello Dr. Turner, look forward to the upcoming season, my family and I plan on coming up for Homecoming and of course HSU.  We will make it a point to make sure that we see you.

Now for the season, what another great year we are going to have, teams keep getting stronger and stronger.  There just used to be 2 powerhouse programs in the conference and now you have to play and play good every week to walk out with a win.  Good luck to all teams, I look forward for another great season.  And of course "What ya say Tribe!?" I will always be an Indian.

Ala Cumba, good luck and God Bless!!

Looks like many new additions at ETBU, and one of them being a former teammate of mine and an all-american standout at DT, Tim Eason.  Just wanted to say good luck to him as this is his first real coaching job in the college ranks.

Go Cowboys!!!!
