Mike Flynn has made the national news--here's a link to the story on espn.com:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2986313

Enjoy!

Now go read the comments, where the ignorant unwashed masses weigh in with the typical "so what, it's only D3."  About what you would expect from your typical BSPN viewer, where the network recently featured a "who's hot" rather than "who's the best athlete" series ...

Good luck to Mr. Flynn (hey, I'm "only" 47 {cough, ack, when did I get that old??} ) - I hope he gets some PT and does not get hurt chasing his dream.

thanks for all the great tips. I'm sure whatever I do will be nothing I planned ahead for...seems like when I make a plan, it changes....so I go with the moment. The 6 man football does sound interesting. Especially if it means a stop at Bum's. IS that a generic, Texas-type Bum's...or a specific Bum....as in Phillips??

The story about Mike Flynn was on WOAI here in San Antonio!!!

Bum's is a sports bar unassociated with the legendary bum phillips.  It has been a number of things over the years, but now is just a sports bar with darts, pool tables, live music sometimes and good people.  When I worked for the Papa Johns in temple, Bum's was our favorite hang out.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

The story made the front page of the local paper this morning way out here in Newport News, Va.

The headline mentioned he is a grandpa.......anybody on the SRU schedule this year with a RB named Reindeer?  ;D

Nice article in the SA Express, also.  Could there be a movie in the works with this story?  I would go see it.

Has anyone been watching the HSU practices and if so, how do they look?

cowboyfan, I merged the topic into the ASC board for all to see.

I have seen one and if they can get past Wartes playing favorites and put the best players out there they could be successful. Just because you are over 6' dosent mean you can run a route and catch a pass.

hsufollower

every receiver is getting a fair look.... considering most of the receivers at HSU are over six foot you might wanna bite your tongue when you talk ....

Zmotion10 out on 2

FYI:

Former HSU receiver Jared May was way under 6 and is one of the all time leaders.

Doesn't do much good if you are tall and have bad hands.  Speed and good hands is even better.  :D

hsufollower

yeah former HSU receiver .. im talking present times... has anybody been to a practice or scrimmage... anyways... HSU had the scrimmage yesterday and looked a bit shaky in places particularly the defensive secondary

Looking forward to a great ASC season

Everybody needs to go to Pickems and post their winners.  We had 35 participate last year although several gave up after a week or two. In the crazy "Pickem" season we had last year when we had 2 top dogs and everyone else that took turns beating each other up.

Others beware, McM is better than advertised.  We will surprise some people including Huntingdon next weekend.

follower, as one of the longest running HSU fans on this board and as a HSU alumnus, I must suggest that you really don't know what you're talking about.  The reason we've enjoyed the success we have over the years is beacuse the most talkented kids are out on the field performing.

Many of HSU's best, all-time receivers have been shorter than or right around six feet in height--Collin McCormick, Todd Bloom, Brian Rogers, Kirk Rogers, Mitch Ables, Jared May, etcetera, etcetera.

You sound like someone with an ax to grind.

I am curious to know whom HSU scrimmaged against yesterday, though.
