Josh, you are, as usual, right on!  Besides, those kids taller than 6' who can catch and run are at schools where they don't have to apply for financial aid!  If it was on a Thursday, I'm betting they were scrimmaging themselves, as UMHB did yesterday.

Toby Taff

They scrimmaged someone from New Mexico I think.  I was talking to the BSM director @ HSU this evening and he said the d looked shaky.  Had a hard time defending the deep pass and the option; not good in the ASC.  On the other hand all reports I've heard says the offense looks solid.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Thanks to McMurry SID Kyle Robarts for implementing this over the summer.

I agree about the defense.  However, I also think the kick off team needs some  improvemt as well.  The coverage wasn't that good.  The quarterbacks all seemed to be doing a decent job with the number one offensive.  It was just a scrimmage.

every receiver is getting a fair look.... considering most of the receivers at HSU are over six foot you might wanna bite your tongue when you talk ....

I would never consider biting my tongue young man. I saw what I saw. I dont want to get too specific but the player wearing 21 just seems real shaky but I assume keeps getting looks due to his being taller. I also saw the scrimmage and I dont see how anyone who saw it could not come away knowing #1 lead the team the best at QB.

maybe the WR kid kept getting looks becuase he is having a great camp and during the scrimmage he was struggling, so the coaches kept going back to him to let him know they believed in him. Sometimes you do things for mental or pychological reasons....not to just complete a pass.

Watch Hard Knocks on HBO...that's exactly what Herm Edwards did with his kicker. He kept missing FGs, so the coach made him keep doing it over and over again until he made it - then practice was over. If you watched that intra-squad scrimmage you would have come away with - the kicker sucks he only made 1 of 7......but that 1 "made" did more to boost confidence than if the coach pulled him after the first, or second miss.

You come off as a parent of a player who is upset at his son's playing time. I think Jimmie Keeling has won his fair share of football games at HSU and should be given the benefit of the doubt, especially in August.

so sorry if I came off that way. I am too old to have a kid playing at any level. Ha! Very true and I do have much respect for Coach Keeling. I was just talking about what I saw. Not meaning to ruffle any feathers. Although I think a couple of posts sound like they are coming from current players. I was just saying I saw 21 and 88 getting more reps. But, then again, like everyone has said maybe they have had a great camp and deserve it.

HSU did get two big receivers in as D-I transfers this year--Travis Watson (#17) is 6'3" and came in from UConn, and Adam Podzemny (#21) is 6'2" and came in from UTEP.

I'm curious to know who took the majority of the snaps with the first team from the quarterback position.

clint bricker took most of the first team stats.. and from an inside source of mine the whole team pretty much wants him to run the offense and is against jordy just becuase of an aweful game he had two years ago against UMHB!

I have been to every practice and public football event so far and Jordy in my opinion although slow footed runs the offense the best and delievers the ball the best...

No qb has been consistent throwing the deep ball many recievers have to stop and come a couple yards back...

CLint def has the stronger arm and more competitive edge .. but when it comes down to being the field general Jordy is definately leading the race!

It is going to be very interesting to see how this plays out. I have heard that alot of the receivers and running backs are complaining about the different qb's becuase they are all different. The timing is different with every receiver and every qb and changiong them in and out every series is starting to piss people off..

I dunno i will be at the game next saturday and it wll be awesome to see how it all unfolds!

Bill McCabe

hsufollower,  HSU will probably do as well as their QBs perform this year.  Neal will be a tough person to replace.  It will be fun to see how they do.

hey thrwdp,

I'm not saying that's what the coach was doing for sure 'cuz I have no idea what was going on....just offering a different possible scenario.

I find it "coincidental" that  their so-called "projections" for both the ASC and SCAC match up perfectly with the preseason conference polls.  LOL!
