roocru,  sounds like retirement is busier than working!  :o  The web site sounds great and I wonder why it took someone so long to do this.  I will be sure to check it out.  Are you planning to make any of the UMHB games?  How is your son doing?

I'll be there!  Which HSU games do you plan on attending this year?

I'll definitely be at the UMHB game and the homecoming game against Howard Payne (it's my class reunion this year).  Other than that, I'm not sure.

I wanted to see the UW-LAX game, but have a side photography gig witht the FC Dallas MLS team, and had already committed to them for Saturday night.  Ergo, I'll be at the Austin College/SWAG game with roocru on Saturday afternoon and at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco Saturday evening.

I'd have liked to attend the McM game in November, but that's the same date as homecoming at Austin College, and I have to do my "day job" that weekend.

Thanks Bill,

I think it will be a great site.  Sort of an ESPN for Texas high schools.

Also I will take this retirement job anyday.  I didn't get to work out of my home before !!!!!   ;D

My son has his first game this week agaianst Little Cypress-Mauriceville at their place.  They scrimmaged College Park from The Woodlands and won the scrimmage 5-4.  College Park made the playoffs in 5A last year so it was a good test.  They are hoping for another run in the playoffs this year.  By the way, he was named Head Track coach this year and a certain former FB at UMHB will be his assistant.  Sounds like fun, huh!   ;)  Makes a dad proud.  ;D ;D

Right now I am looking at the CNU game , the TLC game (Mrs. Roocru has relatives in Seguin) and the ETBU game.  I also plan to make 4 or 5 trips to Sherman to watch my Roos play.  Say hi to your boy for me!
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Minni:

I will not make many games this year (if any) but I will keep up with the Cowboys on the web.  I know that I will miss the action and atmosphere as well .... so Go Cowboys!

A tidbit from this week's ASC football release:

"The national media has been all over Sul Ross State lately for the story of 59-year-old Mike Flynt playing his final year of eligibility, but the captain of the Lobos' 1970 squad will not make the trip [to Seguin to play TLU] due to injury."

roocru, Ryan says hello.  He started law school last week at Texas Wesleyan in Ft. Worth.  I'm not sure how many games he will be able to make this year.

I think that it works all of the way around.

He demonstrated brilliance, even if it is devious.

He was caught.

He should be punished, and the punishment should not be something that impacts his life.

I wanted to post publicly and thank the Mississippi College broadcast team for their professional and even-handed call of tonight's game. It was a refreshing change from the last D-III football broadcast I listened to from that state ...

Thanks for that Pat, I will be sure they are told. Sorry for the audio quality tonight, we had a couple problems with equipment. It was our first time back on local radio which complicated the online broadcast a little bit. Should be smoother next time out.

Yeah, sounded like a short in the cord for the first 10 minutes or so.

Congratulations to MC on their win last night.  I'm not sure what to make of Coach Dubose's statements about playing to win.

Just to give my thoughts on the game last night, I thought the difference was Millsaps completing passes and MC was not early in the game.  MC was sloppy in every phase while Millsaps was sharp. In the first three quarters Millaps was 26-39 passing while MC was 10-31. Even with that huge difference, Millsaps had only outgained MC 329-257 and was averaging just 1.8 yards per rush. MC had also committed more penalities, had a punt blocked, fumbled three times, losing one, and thrown an int.
I would 100% agree that Millsaps was very sharp and playing much better football. I thought Juan Joseph played a great game for Millsaps and is a heck of a player. Millsaps will win a lot of games this year, they have a solid team and I was very impressed with how they played. Joseph makes them that much better.
I honestly was not paying close attention to Millsaps' personnel, but I did notice several skill position backups in the game for whatever reason late in the game, but I thought most of the starters up front were still playing.
I think the MC players felt fortunate to still be in position to get the win considering how poorly they played and the caliber of team they were playing, but it's still a win.

As a Choctaw alum and player for John Williams for 4 years in the late 70s I want to personally thank you for the fantastic job you do as SID for the school and express my appreciation to the school for putting a man like Norman Joseph in place as Head Coach. He is a gentleman, a fine mentor of young men and a very skilled football coach.

As the father of a son who suits up for Mike Dubose and a person with some awareness of the game and one who was in attendance at the 2006 game and the game last night ... Frank Ezelle put it about as well as it could be put. It was like a NFL preseason game and not sure if Frank said it but the first team Majors were superior to the first team Chocs last night ... I am saying that. MC was superior in 2006 but he Majors were last night.

I think MC has a very fine team and that last night Millsaps jumped on them and knocked them back on their heels from the start. In addition I think that if the  intention had been to fully avenge the 52 point track meet from last year it very likely could have been done in much the way the 1979 Choctaws went down in the 1979 Division II semifinals to the University of Deleware Blue HenĀ“s 60 to 10.

That was last night. If they played again things could be different. I am certain that Coach Joseph would make adjustments and that the caliber of players representing MC have the potential to play heads up with Millsaps and win.

I wish MC the best on a go forward basis.

On a right now basis ... I am pretty blown awaywith the outcome of last nights game but I am very very pleased at the football team that Coach Dubose and his gifted team of assistants has fielded for the Majors. They are pretty good!

Mike, his staff and the kids he has recruited and molded into a team have been a pleasure to watch and get to know. The Majors may not win a second SCAC championship or make it to the NCAAs, but they are improved and getting better.

In the 1970s Delta State University was the big I MEAN BIG rival for MC and it was a conference game. I am an old man now but the 3 out of 4 wins against the Statesmen during my time at MC is something I am very proud of and treasure.

The Millsaps MC rivalry at this point is nothing like that or what the MC Millsaps rivalry was like before 1960. It would be nice to see it there but it may not happen.

For now, MC is 1 and 0 and Millsaps is o and 1 and it is time to move on.

I am sticking with the Majors and Mike Dubose and wish Coach Joseph and the Chocs the best.

Go Majors!!
