Big C,
Thanks for the comments. Like I posted on the SCAC board, it was hard not to be impressed with Millsaps last night and I could certainly see them winning the SCAC again this season. I am anxious to see how they play at Louisiana College next weekend.

I have heard a lot about our old rivaly with Delta State, it would have been nice to see the atmosphere at some of those games. Good luck to your son and the Majors this season.

does anyone know if the 59 yr old has stats in the SRU game? Mike Flynn, flynt???

CNU85,

I noticed a week or so ago you were inquiring as to what to do in Central  Texas the Friday evening prior to the UMHB - CNU game. Copperas Cove (about 30 miles due west of Belton) will be playing at home. They are currently the number one ranked team in class 4A (5A being the largest classification in Tx).

Cove is also the alma mater of current UMHB quarterback Josh Welch. Copperas Cove made it to the state championship game last year but lost to a team from San Antonio. It might be worth your while to take in the game.

To get to Cove you go west on Hwy 190. It will take you right into Cove. The stadium is only a few blocks off of 190 on the left - you will be able to see the lights.

Whatever you choose to do, I hope you have a great time in Texas.

This just in:
SRU 33, TLU 31

Lobos had 604 total offense, Austin was 23-38, 4 td passes, 454 passing yards.

Sounds like a good start for the season!

TLU numbers were good too, with a long kick run-back to start the game.

Thanks......we heard that the #1 high school team in the country was just outside of dallas...not sure about all the details yet....we'll do something.....then we have to find the best steakhouse around...we're willing to drive a little to get to it....any suggestions are welcome. it should be a great game....CNU knocked off #10 Rowan today and UMHB is licking their chops, waiting to get CNU on ther turf....gotta love it!

Southlake Carroll.  Closer to FW than Dallas.  Spends as much on their football program than some colleges (def more than most D3s) - wait till you see the palace they play in.

One funny note - their former coach (Todd Dodge) who is used to winning with better facilities, players, money, etc. took the head coaching job at UNT.  They played OU today.  70-10 OU.   It's hell when the other guys have the advantage, eh Todd?

To be fair he is a very fine coach and I'm sure he'll make a diffference at UNT given time.  His son (still at Carroll) is a very fine QB and may end up at UNT next year which would be a huge help for UNT.

The Cove is playing a very weak team from Corpus Christi next week so it will not be much of a game.  I suspect the school near Dallas you are talking about is Southlake Carroll.  You can wait a week and catch them on national TV as they are playing a game against a powerhouse from Florida.  There are plenty of good HS programs in the Central Texas area which will provide some competitive games.  If you don't mind an hour drive, drop down to Austin.  The Longhorns are home Saturday against TCU so Sixth Street in Austin will be a happening place on Friday night.

WOW!!!  It sounds like HSU was either not ready to play....or UWL is pretty darn good!!!  From reading the press release, it sounds like HSU has not decided on a quarterback......let's hope things get better from here on out.   :'(

from what i've heard on campus, this is not unexpected the d did not look good in the scrimmage and New Mexico Military Academy was able to run over them and hit a lot of deep passes.  Hopefully things will pull together soon.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

This is a situation (QB Controversy)  that HSU has not confronted in years.  Will it really be resolved by the end of the season?  ???

Give up 678 yards and it's more than just a QB controversy ...;)

Ron Boerger

That's what I was thinking.  You could have just about anyone at QB and lose giving up that kind of yardage.

Ralph, you are correct....for as long as I can remember.....HSU has never had a problem plugging in a QB......I hope this was just an aberration...... ???

I will go on the record as saying that I'm more than a little concerned.

A loss, I can deal with--UW-LAX is an outstanding squad.  But this type of performance by the Cowboys worries me a great deal.  It needs to get fixed.  Now.
