CruAlum90,

As a fellow UMHB alum, I do appreciate the zeal with which you support the CRU. It is understandable that you bleed purple and that you hold the CRU coaches in high esteem. That being said, you might want to tone down your posts just a tad - you are starting to sound like some Linfield posters.

Ditto, Ralph, I could not agree more.

Big Game? In the preseason? We save our big games for the post season.

Last I checked, you had to win the games before the postseason for there to be any postseason.  Especially when one loss can seriously hurt you chances for a playoff bid.  I know its a non conference game, but they're all big.

I would also like to wish the Cru good luck against CNU this Saturday.  It's always tough to play your first game of the season against an opponent who has already played theirs.  Maybe the home field will help.  Go get em!

YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Why do you have so much hate, Crualum90?

This isn't a zero-sum game.  You can show Pete love without denegrating others--who in fact (Keres, for one) have accomplished as much or more than Pete at the DIII level.

Thumbs up, '39.  If anyone should be sensitive to needing to win all the games in the regular season it would be UMHB supporters - especially considering that the AA has screwed them out of the playoffs with one loss records, made them travel to San Antonio when they should have hosted first-round games, et cetera.

And '90, I agree with the great majority of posters here.   Pete's one of the best coaches in all of D3, and if you wanted to make a case for he and his staff being the best in the south region, you'd have a very good case (even if based on recent results Wesley supporters might disagree).  But he simply can't be called the best in the land until the Cru have won at the national level, and done it repeatedly like Kehres and Gagliardi.   He has done a superb job with the UMHB program and I don't know of anyone who does not have a great deal of respect for the staff there.  Pointing out that UMHB has not yet won a championship is not disrespectful, just the truth.  Having talked with Coach Fred on more than one occasion, he would likely be the first person to disagree with your assertion that he and his staff are the best

Here's hoping the Crusaders demote the Captains this weekend.

Ron- I remember the '03 disappointment all to well.  However, it came to be tradition to travel to Trinity for first round playoffs games.  I don't think I would have wanted to play any other place...  well maybe that's not true.

Hey '90, if you get in too much trouble you can sit with me on the Red side next week......

I agree the CRU needs to win 'em all so they don't get the business come selection time. So a win by any margin is a win. That said, I am hoping the Purple CRUsh opens with a  decisive, leave-no-doubt, statement kind of win - much like the Colts did last night. Saints fans are smartin' this morning.

Ok guys, I think "90" is just tryin to stir the pot a bit, that's all.  He does bleed purple after all is said and done!

That being said, I think the Cru will have their hands full Saturday.  CNU managed to beat them last year, and should have great confidence after last week's big win over a nationally recognized program.  Of course, they may come out and show that they are better than even the storied team from the East, they have done it before.

Here's hoping they do!
GO CRU!!!

While we all know that UMHB does not pass often, when the CRU does put the ball in the air it needs to be effective. They have a new receiver they hope will contribute this season. He is described as tall and athletic. Could he be a weapon to help keep defenses honest? Here is the story from the Temple Daily Telegram:

CNU is not picked to win thier Conference, as a powerful young program= NC Wesleyan is; I wonder how strong they really are? And what it might do to UMHB's playoff location chances if they lost to CNU? I think this is a really big game for ASC favorite CRU.
      * NCWC has already beated CNU at least 1 time (coming last year) in their 4 year history, so I'm going to have to say CNU is possibly not as powerful as they were in, say 2003 or 2004.

Give me a mulligan, for beated (above) should be beaten.

Or North Carolina Wesleyan is pretty good, read this week's Around the Nation?

I see ya "90" reppin your hood.  Givem hell. I just want to wish the CRU good luck tomorrow. Lets start the season off with a bang. I heard the CRU has some tricks up their sleeve this year, should be very interesting to watch. I would also like to wish HSU good luck, it's gotta be hard putting the pads on after a lose like that. Specially for the almight HSU. Hopefully yall will win the next one. I'm not sure what will happen if you start out 0-2. That would be bad for everyone in Abilene...........

P.S. I read a comment about HSU running the option on 4th and 10. I wonder what team they got that from.............I think i have an idea. LOL  There's only enough room for one UMHB in this conference, so I think they should try a different game plan.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and I wish you safe travel. GO CRU!!!!
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

Thanks for getting that name out there to ZING! CruAlum90. Now I won't have to deal with Mr. Moderator.

I don't remember any of those guys from the NWC saying their coach was the best though.

Did I say that any Linfield posters said their coach is the best? No, what I intimated was that some (note the word "some") Linfield posters are zealous about the Cats to the point of being obnoxious. I lived in Mac for 7 years so I know first hand of which I speak. Most Cat fans are great, but some (like in a lot of places) are just too much.
Linfield has a rich football tradition that I am sure many programs envy. However, it is not necessary to rub peoples noses in it. FWIW, I missed  very few games during my time in Mac and was a season ticket holder my last three years there.
There are a lot of fine programs in DIII and respect is due all of them. Hence, when 90 seemed  to be dissing (that may not have been his intent, but that is how it came across) other programs, it reminded me of "some" Linfield posters that seem to believe the Cats bowel movements don't stink. That was the point of my post.
