The ring is the national finalist ring. Since UMHB beat Mount in the Semi-Finals in 04. Hence, the ring that proves UMHB is 1-0 against Mount.

So what is going on in Alpine? I have looked at the two previous games this year and Zach Gideon has not made any tackles. Its a plus for the opponent when he doesn't play. So SR97 or any other sully posters, do you have any input?

Yes, that is correct.....

Congrats to the Crusaders. Keep playing like you did in the last 3 quarters and you might be back in Virginia before the year is over - Salem!

someone asked about the 6-7 kid. For a first time ever game he did ok. 3 catches 2 TDs.....a pretty good day. The other teams on your schedule should go get a hoops player to defend him. CNUs DBs covering him were 5'9"......just throw it up....it worked!

ASC FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
(Games of September 8, 2007)

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Quincy Daniels, RB, So., Mary Hardin-Baylor
Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore running back Quincy Daniels (Belton, TX / BHS) ran for two touchdowns and 158 yards on just 10 carries to lead the Cru to a 51-19 season-opening win over Christopher Newport in a battle of two top-15 teams. Daniels' scoring dashes were for 35 and 79 yards, respectively. It was the first career 100-yard rushing game for Daniels, who added 61 yards on three kickoff returns.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gene Vogelman, LB, Jr., McMurry
McMurry junior linebacker Gene Vogelman (Judson, TX / JHS) had six tackles - 2.5 for a loss - one sack, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in a 41-35 win over Austin College. Vogelman's sack went for a loss of 12 yards and he was part of a unit that held the Kangaroos scoreless inside the 5-yard-line as time expired.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kyle Pope, K, Jr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist junior kicker Kyle Pope (Longview, TX / Spring Hill HS) had an American Southwest Conference and team record four field goals in a 46-19 loss to NCAA Division II Ouachita Baptist. Pope, whose long went for 47 to give the Tigers a lead early in the second half, snapped a league record of three FGs that was done by 18 times by 13 players since 1996. Pope's other kicks were for 36, 32 and 27 yards, and he was good on an extra point.

(dear ASC folks and everyone else:  Judson HS is in Converse, not "Judson" Texas)

put some pads on the guy and have some football players chasing him and his 4.28 speed dont really mean a hill of beans unless he can get to the open field.

HSU had a guy that could run a sub 4.3 40 yrd dash and rarely saw the game field.  Im not saying this guy isnt going to play.  But when practicing against my former teammate when he was on the practice squad and the only time his speed was effective was in the open field and he didnt get there much.  Maybe this guy is different, but 40 times, as a former player, are way overrated.  Its all about the pursuit angles.

A 4.28 40 at the DIII level?  You've got to be kidding me.  What's the story behind this kid?

Josh,  This kid had a good opening week!  ASC offensive player of the week!

And with a stat line like that, he certainly is deserving.

4.28 slipping out of the blocks. He is definately fast. He is also very strong with something like a 500+ squat. He is also a stand up guy as well. He will have a great career for the CRU!!  Congrats to the players on the ASC team of the week. I thought maybe Brett Parker would of had a shot at the special teams with 3 punt returns for a total of 125 yards. Definately set the offense up with some good field postion several times.

Cru 39 you need to start backing your boys.  You know what kind of program that is being run in Belton.

TX20K---

Please do not ever question me about "backing my boys."  I know exactly what kind of program is being run at UMHB.  I am DAMN proud to have been a part of that program  and to have made such great friends from that 4 years of my life that I will always "back".  The knowledge, both related to football and life lessons that I learned from coaches such as Pete Fredenburg, the one and only Corky Nelson (my LB coach), George Haffner, Joe George,  Marvin Agnew and Larry Harmon were priceless.  I respect every aspect of UMHB's program and spill over with pride every time I speak of my school.  However, I am not going to belittle coaches like Kehres and Gagliardi who have given and proven so much to Div. III football, by saying that my coaching staff is hands down better than theirs.  You don't do that.

Having said that, that does not mean I have to agree with everything one of my teammates says.  I take no personal shots at any of my teammates, or anyone else on this board, I just offer my opinions which may happen to be different.  That's what this board is about.

Everygame is a big game.  You can't save big games for games that you don't know if you will play or not.  I don't have to say much more on that subject.

Once again, please do not question my allegiance to my school or "my boys".
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

I must correct myself, that's a 600+ squat for Daniels.

He was fast, but he also was QUICK enough to get in the open field to put his speed to work.  Greater honors are on the way for him. :)

And i wouldn't just worry about his speed. They better bring it whenever they hit him, if not somebody will be getting......"jacked up"
