I think it was a drive-by smiting, Catland--you know, the worst kind!   :)

use2b doesn't have enough posts to be able to smite or applaud yet, I don't think, based on the user rules of the site.

Bowerman,
     I disagree, it wasn't a smite.
However, if you are right about me not having enough seniority on the posterboard, then in that case I apologize. I had no intentions of you even being an object of my post. So, that said, am I entitled to my opinion? Or is this just a board for UMHB and HSU supporters, and anyone else, who may have, say 1 Ring( not2,3,4) has no authority for their basis?

used2b,

I went to the fist half of the LC game with Millsaps. The Wildcats were dominated on both sides of the ball. It could be a long season for LC.

used2b,

I think what Josh meant is that you have to achieve a certain number of posts before you are allowed the privilege of dolling out smites and/or applauds. Thus, you do not have the seniority to smite.

We are all entitled to our opinions (see my earlier post), that is why the forums exist. So long as we abide by the rules, we will be able to post our opinions 'till the cows come home.

And I have to add, there are some folks around here with some pretty informed opinions. I have learned much about the DIII world, and continue to do so, by reading posts here.

accept mistake. I accept the the mistake.

I may be mistaken. but I think you have to have about 500 posts before the smiting and applauding can begin.  Before the new system was in place, the drive by's were rediculous.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I knew for sure it wasn't you, use2b.  I'm not exactly sure why you thought I did, but I've got no hate for you.

But I will take this opportunity to share some thoughts with you (and what seems to be a few new outspoken UMHB fans in here lately), though.

You guys are certainly entitled to your opinion, and opinions are what makes this chat forum so much fun.  But what CenLa was and is trying to tell you specifically--and what I'd add now that I have the chance--is that no matter who you root for, you'll get a lot more respect and get taken a lot more seriously in these chat forums if you tone down the bravado a bit and try to be more thoughtful in your posts.  Take it from me, I had to learn the hard way several years ago.  Don't be that guy--nobody likes THAT guy.

You need to realize that most of the regulars in this chat forum all have 10, 20 or more years of experience watching and/or playing football at this level, and in some cases more years than you (or I) are old.  They and I appreciate your opinions, we just don't always appreciate the way you express them.

You can support your team without denegrating another, and good, thoughtful, well-articulated opinions always get the discussions going in the right direction.

And know this, if you are bold enough to put your opinions in print and publish them for the DIII world to see, don't be surprised when (not if) someone takes issue with them. It's nothing personal (most of the time  ;D), just healthy debate - well there may not be any health benefits, but it can be fun.

Josh Bowerman,
-Thanks for the clarity on the swiping drive by Smite, and my innocence.

   -Thanks for the constructive directions.

-Here's the point, I intend and very much hope to remain anonymous, but over the past 7 years I have had a team in the ASC and was more involved with that team and the ASC than anyone on this poster board. I no longer have a team in the ASC and wish to remain nuetral.

   - I will very much try not to be too critical of any issue posted.

   - The facts are that I watched enough games, participated in enough games, and studied enough games to have an opinion on football in this conference. These kids are all recruited from the same pool of leftovers. I was one of thhem, too. Some coaches have done more with thier programs and players from that poll than others. That is my belief about the ASC.

-But as to Bowerman, again, my thanks

To touch on used2b's post about MACHO and PRIDE. I think you are refering to UMHB's swagger. HSU has had a lot of swagger in the past as well. I think UMHB has a key component that alot of teams don't have. CONFIDENCE. I remember in 2005, we were losing to HSU by alot, we were really getting manhandled. Not till the very last minute of the 4th quarter did i think we were going to lose. I felt we could come back from anything, that was how much confidence I had in my teamates. I don't think that's MACHO or Prideful, i think that is a key to success. Nobody can be successful without being confident in what you are doing. Many teams who are not used to winning, if they get down by 14, turn belly up and quit fighting. Whereas the team like UMHB, and HSU keep fighting. That swagger is a key to winning championships. All the great teams in all divisions have a great swagger. They demand respect whenever they show up. If they don't get that respect then they embarass you. Perfect example, W&J in 2005. They took us very lightly, then on the first kickoff they had a rude awakeing. The game ended up being a rout. Swagger is very important to a team. If you can take that swagger away then you got a chance. UMHB has had the best athletes in the conference hands down the past couple years. I think that is evident by their record, but they also have a great coaching staff to put the "horsepower to the road".

used2b, that wasn't directed at you.  I mangled some punctuation earlier.  Hard to keep it all straight when your typing.  I enjoy reading your posts.  Keep up your passion.

I havent seen this much passion on the board this early in the season in a long time.  Usually passion comes out the week of the HSU-UMHB game.  As far as swagger, cockiness or whatever you want to call it I think it is awesome.  We had it at HSU when I played and honestly I think that is the problem with HSU today.  They don't have that "even though this is your house, we own it" attitude anymore, UMHB has that attitude and unfortunately its true.  They do own evey ball field they step on to.  And until HSU gets that attitude back and gets the confidence back that they had at one time, I dont see them competing for the title with UMHB.  I back my boys through the good times and bad.  I include myself in my next comment, HSU fans need to relax.  We have only played one game this season.  We have nine more to go.

I wish I could be in Belton to see Mike Flynt play.  I've heard from people that played with him before that he was a very good football player.

yessir

It will be interesting to see him play. I'm sure the UMHB boys wont take it easy on him.
