I like some of your most recent post!
-UMHB is deeper and it seems like HSU was for a while. I think HSU just gets the most out of their kids. ---Maybe b/c they don't play there until they are 21-22-23 years old.
- Let us not forget when HPU beat UMHB in 2004 or 2005, they had a great competitor at Qb too.
- ETBU's talent was squandered for a while there in 2002, 2004 maybe, IMHO.

-ERR, does anyone know the rules, and just how the PICK'EM contest works?

SRDAD

headlinesman, you got the hard part done, talking about it!
And i was gonna be nice.........

The CRU defense is pretty good. SRSU might be alright if they go deep, but short passes are going to get someone hurt. Specially if they are over the middle towards Freeman and Henri. Only thing about the deep ball is having enough time to throw the ball. UMHB has always been good at disquising the blitz. Should be a good game.....Hopefully it's not to hot tomorrow. Good luck to both teams and I wish safe travel for all the fans. GO CRU!!!

Wesley and Widener are playing tonight, but we may have another 110 ball games this season.  :)

I was "smitten" by my high school english teacher, does that count? ...

I think so.  I was smitten with my Latin I and Algebra I teacher.   :D

Glory Days, guys....

anyone from your neck of the woods going to the HSU game in Oregon?

We are ready to host but no word from you.

Too far from Washington, D.C., so I'll just be listening on the Internet.  Those attending will be flying with the team, I'm sure and/or have left already.

I think Karma is overrated......just because you don't agree with what the person has said, you shouldnt give them -negative karma. I mean, i could understand if the person was being an -sshole but just because you are a HSU fan and there a UMHB fan, don't give them - karms, but then again, I am -10 in the karma. LOL

Ditto on the karma, yessir.

Here is a game preview for the Sul Ross vs. UMHB game from the Temple Daily Telegram. Lot's of quotes from the coaches: http://www.temple-telegram.com/story/2007/9/15/43582

used2b, you bring up a good point about the better teams being older. Coach Wright has done a good job recruiting, and it will only get better at SRSU, but ALOT of freshman and soph. start right away.
Kinda like playing up in baseball, it's a good way to learn quick, just not always on the winning side..

SRDAD,
I sure think it would be great for SRSU to pull the upset, but I'm going to have to go with UMHB by plenty. However, if SRSU can play their game, and as always, no turnovers, they may make a run here.
-In my deelings with Coach Wright, he was always extremely cordial in conversation. He was always very upbeat and attached to that SRSU program. I think he is the right man for the job out there, as that job will take a "special type( one who is a little bit unconventional) of animal." It would help if the AD there would get out of the way and pour some  $ into the program. Wright doesn't have the $ to hire even a half sized fully paid D3 staff. At least, the last time that I knew, these were the circumstances out there.

While a Sully upset is far-fetched, this is easily the best chance they've had in five years to do it.  They've finally got some upperclassman leadership and offensive threats who put up numbers.  WR Brown is averaging over 100 yards a game, RB Barber is doing almost that, and QB Davidson finally has the recievers to make him a legitimate weapon.  He's already has over 600 passing yards after two games, and he only played in about six series last week, with almost zero playing time in the second half to keep him healthy for the CRU.

The SRSU defensive and offensive line is where this one will come down.  The defense gave up way too many rush yards to a poor team last week, but this week will see the return of Big Gideon and Chris Vela, two veteran inside threats that will hopefully add some beef to the middle (and with Gideon, especially his corner).  The O-line is thick, but young and inexperienced.  Having only one vet left from the 2005 season (when the line was at its biggest, averaging about 305), this year's unit is talented but needs a couple seasons of weight training and fundamentals work before they can be called fully gelled.  Davidson got sacked three times last week on blitzes, so hopefully the Lobo line can see where the obvious work needs to be done.

There's every reason to believe that this game will be a high scoring affair, as last time the Sully first string played the whole game they nearly racked up 700 yards of offense against a TLU team that held a pre-season rank over SRSU.  Last week's NAIA game would have had Sully over sixty if the first team had ever taken the field after the halfway point.  That all said, MHBU is ranked fifteenth nationally in offense, and they have every reason in the world to believe that this afternoon should be a repeat of last week's showing.  I give the CRU the edge, but I don't think, barring injury, zebra incursions, or major events, that SRSU will keep the spread too distant.

Since they're playing in Belton, I say CRU 52, Sully 35.

Looks like Daniels is faster than anybody SRSU has as well. CRU defense was smothering today. If a QB could stay in the pocket and throw, they might would of had a better chance but the blitzes had him running for his life all day leading to several int's. The CRU looked great today. 3 minutes into the game it was 21-0. 2 offensive plays, 2 touchdowns. Pretty impressive outing. SRSU looks alot better than previous years, they should have a good season. The CRU is just to strong. It was really really hot, i'm sure both teams are ready for the game to be over with. SRSU also had alot of fans at the game as well. Looks like they are a up and coming program. Good luck to everyone else in the ASC, and travel safe. Great Job CRU!!!
