yeah that was funny chris, your probably just happy someone agrees with you haha, but its good to have you post on here!! I sometimes feel bad about all the stuff this previous week.  And kickhoe who are you to judge the coaching of the one of the best division 3 coaches ever!  So you were at the game today, we're you the little nerd in the stands with your laptop posting on D3 gameday every bad thing for hsu in the game? It seems like you dont know much about football.....even though defense is stuggling right now they have made much improvement.....7 sacks......3 picks and a fumble recovery.  Blame the slack in the game on the second and third stringers because thats who was in after hsu made the score 41-20 with six minutes to play in the game.  Give LC props on taking advantage of younger and not as experienced players.  Not to blame those guys they did good at times but that was the situation.  HSU did learn something this game.......its not over...till the clock runs out!!!!  They thought they had it!!  Not a coaching mistake to put your backups in a situation like that, the back ups played a lot that game, probably a mistake but its good to be able to give everyone a look at, but ultimatly it almost cost the cowboys. the ones scored almost everytime they were in!!  the first drive was a little crazy but im sure it was becasue the cowboys we're too excited, they made some mistakes.....sometimes its not good to get too excited and "overflow".  the cowboys still need some work but it def. looked like they improved.

And the second and third stringers just thought that they knew how hard they had to work to get the job done.

The LaCollege game just took the post-game video review and Monday practice up several levels.

hsucowboyfan

well at least now they know, and the cowboys still came out victorious!!!!!  ;D

Just got back from the Hope-Wheaton game.  Great atmosphere, fun game to watch.  More thoughts next week on the similarities and differences between the South Region teams and these two teams from the North Region.

Wheaton has a beautiful campus, and I'd highly recommend anybody with a few minutes to kill in Chicago checking it out.

So I'm a nerd with a laptop and I know squat about football....I fail to see any great improvement in that game compared to the previous 2 games...if giving up 600 yards of offense is improvement, then I am a frigging idiot!!!  If Feaster fumbling the ball at least 5 times is improvement...see above....if stupid penalties at key times is improvement...once again see above

I bleed Purple & Gold....but I know when I see bad football....HSU is a more talented team that is very lucky that they are not 0-3.....and oh, by the way...it was not a laptop....it's a Blackberry....;)

Let me be a little more clear on what I saw.....and you tell me that this a team on the rise....

HSU offense:
- Feaster is a good QB...he started a little rough, but was able to move the ball pretty well throughout the game
- the RB Jones played well...he had several big runs...later in the game, they brought in #6 and he ran well
- the offensive line played well...like I said above, they ran the ball well, and they protected Feaster...there were only a few times in the game where I saw Feaster under a lot of pressure, but that was mainly due to blitzes...
- the receivers are pretty good...they were able to get open fairly regularly...

All in all, a pretty good showing by the offense...41 points is not bad!!!

HSU Defense:
-pourous...way too easy to throw downfield...the DB's play way off giving the receiver way too much cushion...every LC receiver seemed open
- another thing I noticed with the secondary was a little timid...there was not a leader back there that wanted to take control...to me it seemed like one guy would think the other guy was going to take care of that receiver...when in actuallity, nobody was...probably the result of being young and inexperienced....
- the d-line got lots of pressure several sacks...if the defense is going to be successful..the d-line is going to have to put lots of pressure on the QB to help out the young secondary
-apparently, late in the 3rd...HSU forgot how to tackle...LC's running back was able to run at will...
- I will give the HSU some credit...there were a couple of drives where the defense stiffened up when it counted...namely, the last drive!!!

HSU Coaches:
- why can't they get plays into the offense in a timely fashion?  This seems to be a consistent problem every year...and was very apparent today.
- what is the deal with Feaster looking over at the sideline when he gets under center?  It seems like he is confused with the play call, but that also may be intentional to confuse the defense....
- why did the coaches bring in the scrubs when the game was far from certain?  I think that was a big mistake that almost cost them....

Guy's...like I said before...I love HSU and want them to succeed...but I have not seen them play this poorly since 1990 when they brought football back...there were some good things that happened, and they did win...but seriously, if the defense continues to give up that many yards and points per game....what is it going to be like when they play a real good team (oh yeah, we saw that with UWL and Linfield)....this is a rebuilding year for my Cowboys...hopefully they are learning from each game and things will get better next week!!!

Hey, give me credit...I just wrote all of this on my Blackberry...my thumbs are really tired!!!!

I was in the stands with a laptop, but I wasn't posting with it.  I was listening to the crusaders crush TLU.  I posted from my treo.   :)

I think starting the 2nd master's degree made that designation official. :D

Great outing by the CRU today. I'm sure it was smokin hot at Matador Stadium. It always is. Congrats to J Thrash on 209 rushing yards. With touchdown runs of 72 and 74 yards, I know your o-line was extemely happy. Specially on a hot day like today. Also, congrats to D WILLA on helping the CRU defense hold TLU to just 183 yards of Total offense. With just 34 of those being rushing yards. TLU only passed midfield twice. Pretty good defense there. We all know defense wins championships. That type of outing really helps the offense put points on the board. The Cru D is putting on a show so far this year. Giving up 225, 11 pts, 64 rushing yards, and averageing 3 int's a game. Opposing QB's are 93-36-9 in the passing game. Looking good boys. With the offense putting up 500+ and 51 a game. Keep them stats up and it will be a great year.  The 2004 Stagg Bowl team averaged 50+ a game. Looks like yall are on that pace, which was a good one.

Congrats to HSU for getting the first W of the year. Like i mentioned earlier this week, nobody can "Coast" through anybody in college football. Cause any given Saturday.............Everybody knows the ending. As for the HSU fans ragging on HSU, don't sound like your that much of a fan to me. Gotta be a fan in the ups and the downs, if not, your not a fan just a follower.

ETBU and MISS had some good wins today. Congrats to them as well.

Looking forward to the MC-UMHB game this weekend. UMHB has outscored McM 61-10 in the previous 5 years. Closest being last year 38-15. I'm sure McMurry is glad they are meeting UMHB early in the season now. When meeting them later in the season UMHB ussually puts up 70+ on them, and holds them to one score. Should be a good game. One more step closer to the task at hand. Lets take care of McM and keep on rolling. Hope everyone has a good week of practice. GO CRU!!!!
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

So let's see...if I am critical of my team..I must not be much of a fan...like I said now for the 3rd or 4th time since yesterday...I bleed Purple & Gold...but when the Cowboys play like they have been playing....then I am going to speak up say what I think...I'm not going to sit here and sugar coat how they are playing....that is not fair to them and it is not fair to the readers of this forum....

I was involved in my youngest son's youth football league all afternoon so I was unable to listen to the CRU. It sounds like they dominated.

The two newspaper reports I read did not mention Quincy Daniels. He is not hurt is he?  Anyone know?

Concerning the discussion about the LC vs. HSU game, here is a link to the story in the Alexandria, La. daily newspaper: http://www.thetowntalk.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070923/SPORTS/709230329/1006

This, I suppose, would be LC's take on the game.

OLDCHOCTAWCOACH

Looks like the Choctaws might be for real this year.  We'll find out next weekend when they take on the Cowboys.  Go Chocs!

Kelly,

Daniels was used quite a bit yesterday, but tlu was keying on the run and keeping him down early.  So the CRU started passing more and put Thrasher in as a change of pace, and thrasher went off.  Sounded a little sloppy early, but the cru still dominated.
