I might rather have UMHB throwing against me when I'm down by 50 than continuing to knock me all over South Central Texas with the ground game.  I'm just saying.  324 yards per game rushing.  Second to Mount Union.

Just a thought.

The McM radio team discussed the benefit of stopping the Cru ground game saying that they weren't a good passing team.  Then Josh Welch threw 4 td's.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Okay... all the UMHB alums join in and singgggg:

Up with the purple, the gold and the white, high o're the college tower
Forth from her portals we step in her might, men and women great in power...

Go CRU! UP WITH THE PURPLE!

I listened to the McM radio announcers and they didn't act like the score was being run up by UMHB.  They complimented the play of the Cru over and over.  Plus, it was a competitive game into the 2nd quarter.

I feel like I saw this discussion coming down the pipe and made all these points in my initial response and to this point have yet to share in the outpouring of beloved karma points...

i mean i don't need 'em...i have self esteem...i'm just sayin

Mr. Akins you coming to MC game? The only one close to my neck of the woods that I'm probably gonna make

Kelly Boggs

From one UMHB alum to another, +1 Crukid

I hope to make the MC game. My son has a light football workout on Saturday mornings, but I think we can make it by kickoff.

Anyone here going? It would be great to meet you.

I think that Patrick Oliver has done more for Josh Welch's passing efficiency than anything else.   :D  (3 catches for 39 yds and 3 TD's!)

If Kit and Leon thought that it was fair, then that is the final word on the matter for me.  I am not sure of an ASC broadcast crew that has seen more D3 football.  (HSU's radio crew?  HPU's radio crew?  How long has the Choctaw crew been doing it?)

CruGuy

That stat is only bested by his season stats 8 receptions for 183 yds. and 7 touchdowns...which begs the question, why aren't we throwing to him more ?

crufootball

I would love to go to the MC game, but as a student I dont know if I can afford it especially since I plan to drive to Whitewater the week after. However I would just like to give kudoos to the Mississippi College website, it is amazing. I followed the HSU-MC game for awhile and the game tracker on their website is something I wish UMHB would copy.

CruGuy

Get the school to send some spirit buses, they've done it in the past for HSU and playoff games, I'm sure that this game is going to be on a similar level..esp if we get by HSU with a small margin

Unless things have changed there is no internet access at the HS stadium where UMHB plays its games.  When I went to do the Wesley-UMHB game in '05 there was one phone line that I had to share.  You need a full-time internet connection to do live stats.

All schools that have the capability *should* do live stats, because it's not much harder than doing the basic stat tracking that everyone has to do, anyway.

Ralph, our play by play guy has been doing games the last couple of years in the ASC, and did games for us when we were in the Gulf South Conference. Charlie Chitwood at ETBU has done a great job for years and is the only other person I can think of who would be on your list along with McMurry and HSU.

I appreciate that, I am lucky to have a lot of good help on gamedays. Hopefully, next year we'll be able to provide the video feeds at no charge. As a DIII fan, I hope that is the direction most programs take, it's hard to compare teams with nothing but the boxscores. Right now we just use a single camera, but the technology is there to do a full production with a couple cameras at a relatively inexpensive price. Plus, the streaming quality seems to get a little bit better every year.

Regarding the live stats, they are easy to provide but you do need a dependable internet connection. I don't think the UMHB facility is wired for internet access, at least not the last time I was there.  I have tried my best to forget that day though.

Crukid, I would love for the school to send some buses to the MC game, however I am not sure how willing they would be. I tried unsuccessfully, to get them to take some buses to Dover last year, which is why I had to drive there with two friends in my car. I am in the process of trying to get something to Whitewater, but I am not holding my breath for that game either. I'm guessing another long road trip is in store for me

HSU will do a fan bus for some out of town games and playoff games....I remember several years ago going on one of the buses to see HSU/HPU.....my in-laws have gone to an HSU/UMHB game a few times....it's a good thing to do, it's gets your supporters in the stand to cheer your team!!!

CruAlum39

Litte late on the subject but I remember that MC game in '03.  Wasn't very good for the old stats (not that I cared too much).  I had 3 tackles on a total of 14 defensive snaps as the middle linebacker.  Started the first four series, was subbed late in the 2nd quarter, then played the opening series of the 2nd half.

I definitely appreciated the win, but wanted to play more than 14 snaps in the ballgame.  UMHB has always done a good job of substituting when we get ahead.  But like it has been said, you can't ask you subs not to play either.  Most teams try to run the clock out in a situation like that; UMHB is and was a very good running team.

YOU KNOW IT!!!!
