I am going to go out on a limb here and say the CRU will beat WW easily 42-17! I don't think anyone can stop there running game.

Cru15,

I understand your confidence in the UMHB O-line and the new dimension that Patrick Oliver brings.

My specific question is, what changed over the course of the winter for the UWW defense to go from allowing only one FG to the UMHB Offense to giving up 6 TDs?  Specific personnel on either side?

Thanks

Pat Coleman

Graduation of beast DT Ryan Kleppe may be part of that.

I'm not sure if I even want the Cru to win by 25 points. I can not imagine how cocky our boys would be if they beat the #3 team in the nation by that large of a number. Don't get me wrong it would prove a lot, and would be great to see, but something tells me that would make them overlook an opponent later in the season.

Amen to that......he killed us last year. I don't think the CRU will get a big head if they win big. I think they know what the big picture is all about. The road ends in Salem. I think they know that.....
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

Cru15

DT Ryan Kleppe being gone is big. He dominated the game last year. Oliver is a big factor in the passing game that was almost none existent in last years game. Alot of things change over the course of a off season/ summer that make or break you. I believe the UMHB football team has come together and clicked, they now have the best team UMHB has ever had. If WW doesn't return that kick it's 3-0 without any offensive production.

Rick Akins

I also concur about Kleppe. UMHB could not handle him.  I do not expect a blowout at all. In fact a win by 1 point on the road would still be huge for UMHB; however, this is definitely a different offense from 2005 or 2006.  The backs are MUCH better as I have stated previously, the line just seems to be opening big holes quite often as I remember from 2004, and the backs can take it to the house when they do. Also, the pass protection seems much much better, and that helps Welch a lot of course.

I know UMHB has not played anyone close to Whitewater's level yet, but the offensive line--all 5 starters back--2 juniors and 3 seniors--seems to be playing with a tremendous level of confidence.  Also the tight ends and fullbacks are  all  back and have another year of experience too.  I believe UMHB returned 9 or 10 starters from a year ago on offense: they lost only one RB( Rollins) and one receiver(Carter) and the replacements are more than outstanding.

Thank you gentlemen.  I didn't want any bulletin board material coming off the ASC board.

We ASC fans greatly respect the WIAC.  What you have discussed are all valid points that make this game different than last year's.

Looking forward to Saturday...

It's still early.  ;) ;D :D
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Cru15

Yes I definitly respect the WIAC! My prediction might just be wishful thinking, I'm sure it'll probably be a much closer then that!

Mr. Akins,  we have played someone of their level, at least statistically.  http://web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv/rankings

Mississippi had a great run D, ranked higher than UWW.  I think we will roll through them with some ease.  Our 2 deep O line is VERY formidable and uncompared to most teams.  I'm not saying it will be a blowout, but we should win by 10.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

used2b

umhb2001,
(IMHO)-please don't equate Miss College's run defense with being anything above below average. I 've been preaching this for weeks. If any umhb fan or player thinks they have done something better than run through a sickening Defense in MC, you will be in for a rude awakening the next couple of weeks when you run in to UW-W's and ETBU's veteran front. (yes etbu has a strong veteran front and always plays thier best game of the year against the CRU). UMHB will not run for 600 a game for the next two weeks.

roocru

ASC fans, I just posted the following on the WIAC Board and wanted to put it here as well.

I posted this same information last week on the ASC board prior to our game against Mississippi College.  I have changed it to fit for this week's contest.  This is not meant for any other reason than informational purposes.  Take from it what you will!!  I just thought it might tell everyone something about both teams.
(Sorry for the format, but I have not figured out how to clean it up to post in straight columns)

roocru,

Thanks used2b,

I appreciate your gesture.  :) I don't do it for the Karma but because I like for people to see some real numbers to base their conclusions on. I know that many times statistics are deceiving but they give us a place to start our discussions.

Hang in there on the karma.  You will get enough posts sooner than you think!!  ;)
