1400 AM KTEM IN TEMPLE carrys the games--Jim Cooper on play by play and George Haffner on color. Coach Haffner was the offensive coordinator for UMHB for many years, including the Stagg Bowl team. I believe he retired after the 2005 season. I will be in Wisconsin, so listen for me, MCM Blue Devil!

You will also be able to watch the game on line at pennatlantic.com for about $6.00.  That's what I'll be doing!

I will be joining you, umhb2001.
Well, that cuts it down to $3.00 a head.  ;)
I'll have it on in Abilene.  probably projected on the wall of the church

First time posting over here on this board.  I'm a Mount Union alum who recently moved away from Texas (Austin and Corpus Christi).  I made it up for a couple of games, though not since early 2002.  You were pretty kind to me even while wearing a Mount Union t'shirt!  I remember being impressed then with the quality of team in such a young program.  Just wanted to say good luck this weekend to the cru.  Mount Union has our own business to take care of the next couple of weeks, but you guys are set up for a great game up in Wisconsin.  You have to figure that whoever wins this weekend should be able to pull a couple of first place votes.  Here's hoping we see you in the post season for a purple on purple rematch!

Thanks for the good word, jaypeter. It would be great to face mighty Mount again in the future. And I am sure the Purple Raiders would love to get another crack at the CRU. As far as UMHB goes, the first meeting, and thus far only meeting,  will live on in CRU lore for decades to come.

And it should live on!  Beating a team that has been in national prominence for as long as your team has been in existence...and doing it on that team's home turf as well.  One of the best things about that game for me was that no matter the outcome, either sides' fans were going to be upper-class about it.  Mount knows when it has been beaten and we'll hand it to the guys who did it.  Texas fans know football and would have had given Mount the credit I'm sure.

It's probably just my adopted Texas pride showing, but I hope y'all win this weekend.  It's a tall order, though, to beat the number three team after such a long trip.  If you win, it could be setting up a rematch in the Stagg Bowl.  Otherwise, it could be a rematch up in Alliance in the semi's.  I was talking over on the OAC board that whoever wins this matchup, will likely get seeded in the playoffs to not meet Mount Union until the Stagg (IF mount union is able to win out!).  Whoever loses could very likely get a trip up to Ohio in the semis.  But, there's still a lot of football left to be played.

I think I'm just bored with not enough to do in school today and feeling lazy from the rain.  Oh well, have a great game this weekend and hopefully we'll see each other down the road!

Good luck to everyone traveling to the game this weekend. Drive safe and be careful. Looking forward to a great game this weekend in Wisconsin. Jaypeter, of all the places the CRU traveled to in 2004, Mount Union was by far the classiest. We were treated with respect and hospitality. Playing on that field, you could feel the amount of pride that MU has. Both in their football team, and their school. The oportunity to play there was a great one. Not to mention actually winning there. I hope MU and UMHB clash in the Stagg Bowl this year. That's looking like it could be a great game. Good luck to the teams playing this week. Be safe....GO CRU!!!!
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

Great shot, thanks for sharing!  Unfortunately, we don't see to many of those on Friday nights here in Belton.  That is, unless we play Temple.

I will be joining you tuning in at the same time as you, umhb2001.  :)

Sweet! They are also showing it at UMHB on a big screen.  I think I will be going over there.

Very cool.  Nice to hear the Permian name again.  I remember when I couldn't discuss high school football without mentioning Permian and Temple.  Since I graduated in the late 90's Temple's program has just gone down.  This year it looks like they are turning things around.  I hear they have a few talented RB's again.  I hope the Crusaders can snatch one of them again to keep the depth at RB next year.  Unfortunatly Temple's best RB is a sophmore and if he keeps playing well and the team begins to get attention again over the next years we may see him go to a bigger program with scholarship money......

kelly,

is it just me or is the killeen daily story a bit off?

maybe it was rushed, but the writing isn't very good.  Take this portion of the story for example (emphasis mine):

The Warhawks still have an imposing defensive line filled with players over 6-feet tall and 265 pounds.

"That's where you hope your offensive line is doing a good job," Leipold said. "It frees the linebackers to make plays."

You're right Toby, the quote does not seem to make sense in the given context. It may have been a typo. If not, it probably would have been better not to use it.
