These games make you wish you were still playing.  I am looking forward to the cru o-line to open holes and hopefully send a strong message this game.
If it's not about winning and losing then why keep score?

Ouch!!! I wasn't expecting the UMHB score.

Kelly Boggs

Not much to say after that... the Warhawks took it to the CRU early and often. I might be a bit cliche, but you are not going to beat many teams by turning the ball over 6 times and committing too many penalties.

2 or 3 turnovers against Whitewater would have been difficult to overcome.  No way with 6.  The defensive scheme for UWW was very impressive.  They took advantage of the things we don't do well.  Hopefully, we will get a chance to play them again.

crualum55

Yes turnovers never help the situation.  Again someone has stopped the run and forced the cru to throw to get back in the game.  It still has'nt happened yet.  There is gonna be some definite soul searching done on the plane ride back.

Things I would have liked to have seen differently today:

1. Score  ;D
1. Less penalties/ turn overs/More discipline
3. Better choices by Welch when throwing (I think he needs more reps if he's going to be effective passing.)
4. More option early. (seemed to work well once it was established.)
5. Less running up the middle early. (once it was clear they were looking for it, I wish we would have worked the edges more to soften the midle up.)
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

We were horrible.  Welch looked like he had never played a game.  His throws were eratic at best.  Jarvis and Quinc can do it by themsleves.  They had some good runs, but we are too one dimensional.  We have to have better QB play if we plan on winning in the playoffs.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

crualum55

I agree that we are one dimensional.  I assure you that welch gets reps throwing the ball in practice.  We just never seem to bring it to the game.

The MHB defense was very good, although the first quarter they looked like the were still suffering jet lag or something.

MHB QB couldn't pick up the offense - the running game was not altogether shut down, but was limited enough that they had to get some passing.  Bad decisions, especially into the wind (or perhaps bad play calling - long out into the wind).

Hang in there, CRU fans.  You're still going to host playoff games, and you should still be playing in December.  Good luck from Wisconsin!
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

MC beat ETBU 45-21 today and put up 652 yards of offense, the most ever allowed by the Tigers. Adam Shaffer threw for 482 yards and set a new MC record for total offense in a season. Jake Allen caught 11 passes and set a school record with 214 yards receiving. Three receivers went over 100 yards and Chris Blanton rushed for 130 yards. After giving up the huge runs last week, the defense played well allowing just 50 yards rushing and just over 300 total. MC actually trailed 21-14 at the half after turning the ball over five times in the first half. All three touchdowns by ETBU followed MC turnovers with one Shaffer interception returned for a score.

The MC offense should move up to 4-5 in the nation in total offense this week and the passing offense could move as high as #2.

Chris Brooks,
I have heard that Schaeffer had 519 yards today vs. ETBU. ETBU was saying that he tied an all time record against them. (perhaps it was that he had 519 TOTAL and 482 PASSING???).

CNU85

wow....I saw what UMHB did to my Captains. I'm having a hard time pcituring that Crusader team getting beat 41-14. That's a whole different level of football than what I'm used to seeing! I feel sorry for the next tam on the schedule for UMHB.

Interesting posts about the HS game with 15,000. I know around this part of VA we often get 10,000 for a good HS game. Too bad we can't get 10,000 for CNU games!!

I think 519 is the passing record salinas from tlu had against us a couple years back.  Today it was 519 total but 37 yards of that were on a receiver pass.  So I don't think it was a record.  Either way it was a pretty rough day for the young defense.

Congrats to MC who really rebounded by only allowing 50 yards rushing.

WR Dusty Coleman threw a 37-yard touchdown to Marcus Terry after a lateral from Shaffer in the third quarter. In his last two games Shaffer has completed 63-104 for 972 yards and Jake Allen has 22 catches for 399 yards. With two games to go, Shaffer has already set school records for passing yards (2,613), total offense (2,493) and tied the record for touchdown passes with 22. Allen is no pace to become MC's all-time leader in receiving yards and receptions and needs about 90 yards to break his own school record for receiving yards in a season (1,024). He already holds the career record for touchdown receptions with 21.
