fatboy, supposedly there is a formula that the NCAA uses to rank the teams.  I don't believe UMHB is the 3rd best team either, but that is how the ranking works out.  I wouldn't put W&J as the best team, even though they are undefeated.

I guess i understand. It does not bother me that W&J is ranked above UMHB as much as Wesley but that is because they have beat UMHB the last 2 years. So why is Wesley rank above a 8-0 W&J and a one Loss UMHB Team????

Pat, maybe St. Cloud was not a good D2 school, but they were good enough beat UWW. Other than MUC, no one has beaten them in the last 2 years.

Also, based off the regional rankings and the crazy way the ncaa schedules the d3 playoffs, proves that taking a chance playing UWW by the Cru may cause them a second and third home playoff game if they are fortunate enough to progress that far

Well, with all the speculation, the first order of business is to take care of business!
GO CRU, Beat ETBU and wrap up the conference!

Bill McCabe

fatboy, W&J is #1 in the South Region and Wesley is #2.  Crudaddy, you are right.  Today's game is a must.  I will never forget the 2003 game with ETBU and the disappointment is caused.  It sounds like ETBU is playing much better this year.

crualum55

I hope the cru ends up rank behind W&J and Wesley in the region.  I think it will just give them fire to play harder in the playoffs and show how good they are.  I have not forgotten the 2003 ETBU game either Mr. McCabe.  We thought we had the game won and then relaxed and they came back and beat us.  Take care of business today Cru and lock up a playoff spot!!
If it's not about winning and losing then why keep score?

Hi guys been here awhile but finally decided to register to get your guys opinions. I am UMHB grad in 03, did not play FB but went to many games as I could, my family will be there today.

But I also think we must get past ETBU to wrap up the conference title before we start looking to the playoffs. I am sure they are ready to play unlike last week.

My question is, since we are done with the home/home contract with UWW and CNU who do you think we will/should try to sched next season? I would love MUC but they are already wrapped up for the next two years. We could always try to sched W&J and Wesley so as long as we beat them and win the conf then we wold have the 1 seed in the south. Just my opinion

The first question is who needs games "bad enough" to schedule a home-and-home with UMHB.

That is what HSU has known for the last 10-15 years.  UMHB is now in the same situation.

Guys, how balanced was the CRU offense today?  Did we keep running the ball or did we give Welch a chance to throw the ball 20 times?  I think we have to be a serious threat through the air if we want to move deep into the playoffs.

Pat, maybe St. Cloud was not a good D2 school, but they were good enough beat UWW.

The second week of the season they beat a team that had a new qb, new head coach, new offensive coordinator, an entirely new defensive line, etc. I like UWW's chances if that game is played in October.

Umhbalum, The Cru was quite balanced (by UMHB standards) today throwing for over 200 yards and rushing for over 400.  :o

Congrats on winning conference!!!

Thats what I like to hear.  I hope they work on the passing game even more this last game. I would be interested in the breakdown of offensive plays....  pass vs. run attempts

They didn't throw as much as I'd like to have seen.  Josh threw 14 times.  What they did with the passing game that I liked was they threw different types of passes.  They even tried to hit oliver on a quick slant.  But for the most part they just ran over ETBU.  Thrasher's 94 yard run was came straight up the middle, and he won the track meet.  The 42 yard run was more impressive to me.  When he got passed the secondary he turned on the jets and just walked away from the 2 defenders chasing him.  The defenders seemed to start gaining on him and then he had a little more.  The game should have been a shutout, but the 3rd string qb threw an int that was returned to inside the 10.  Special teams looked good.  The punt block by Freeman for the td was nice. Basically it was a typical Cru football game in the ASC.

ETBU does have a monster soph. tight end (6'5" 257lbs) tht caused some problems.  They only had 1 person on the team taller than the TE.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

A few stats from the MC 31-10 win over Howard Payne yesterday. Adam Shaffer and Jake Allen had big games again. Shaffer went over 3,000 yards for the season and has 1,346 in his last three games with all three games over 400 yards. Jake Allen went over 200 yards receiving again with three touchdowns. He has 29 catches for 604 yards in his last three games.

I know MC is not a topic anymore with slim to none playoff hopes, but does anyone think they should be receiving some attention from Top 25 voters? The offense is 3rd in the country in total offense and 2nd in passing offense. The defense had the two terrible games, but is actually still second in the ASC in total defense. I think if they would have pulled out the HSU win, they would probably be looking at a 15-20 ranking and chance for the playoffs this season. They are still 7-2 overall playing in the ASC.

Good luck to UMHB. I know Trinity will be the first round matchup and I think the Crusaders win that game big. Who are the potential second round opponents?
