this is a bit off topic, but  is anyone interested in a post-game trip to Schoepf's BBQ to put faces to nic's? It's always nice to know who you are talking with.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

wish I was going to be in town, but I'll be in Houston until late Saturday afternoon so I won't even have the radio broadcast... good luck Crusaders!

Nice to see a Capital fan over on this board.   ;)

Given his absence last year and MC's resulting record without him, I think the MC QB has a strong case for some superlative.

Two things surprised me here.  Jake Allen as OPY and Joel Munoz as special teams PoY not making the all conference first team.

I was already planning on stopping by for some post game bbq, haven't had it since my last home game in 2004!!!
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Actually Jake Allen is the first name on the 1st team all conference.  I think Munoz got the special team award because he's the punter and place kicker and the others are just specialists in one of those areas.

I could be wrong about Munoz though.

last time i ate there was with roocru, Ralph and Ron Boerger after a HSU/MHB game in Belton.  Josh was supposed to come but wasn't up to it after the game.

The thing that surprised me about Allen was that his name wasn't really on the radar screen of most people.   The all conference comment was just about Munoz.  sorry for the misunderstanding.

I think there were more players deserving of the Offensive POY award  this year than any other I can remember. Jarvis Thrasher, Adam Shaffer, Justin Feaster and Quinton Jones all put together great seasons as well.

But a few notes on Jake Allen, he has a definite possibility of being selected in the NFL draft in the Spring. He is one of only a couple DIII players listed on the NFL's DraftTracker. shortened link

That doesn't mean he will get drafted, but we have had all but a couple NFL teams come in to see him at least once and there are probably 5-6 NFL teams checking in weekly with us to keep up with him. It will depend on how well he works out in the Spring. Plus, he's one of those players you like to see do well, very good kid that we were fortunate to have for three years.

Congrats to everyone that recieved All-conference honors. Special shout out to the UMHB O-line. Everybody on the first team made it.......great job guys. Keep up the good work Coach George. "Yeah know..............." LOL
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

Can anyone explain to me how Q. Jones is 2nd team all conference? He was second in the conference in yds, TD's and yards/ game. Also where is the love for Zavious Robbins? He leads the conference in kick return yards and is 2nd in yards/return and is nowhere to be found on the list behind 4 other returners? At least honorable mention would seem necessary. Also Jordan Daniel at 2nd team just doesnt seem right. He led HSU lineman in pancake blocks with a torn mcl that he only missed one game for. His only game that he graded out at less than 90 percent was the UMHB game and that was after missing a week and a half of practice and the MC game due to the torn mcl. He was dominant in every other game he played in averaging about 10 pancakes a game. Justin Feaster led the conference in passing efficiency(well behind josh saenz who only had 31 passing attempts) and was third in yds/game and second in passing touchdowns and is second team? I understand HSU had a down year but wheres the recognition for the players who deserve to be honored for the things they did? Just because they had a defense that struggled doesnt mean they deserve to be left out of the honors deserved

i agree completely hsutd73. how can quinton jones who is 12th in the nation in rushing yards with 1356 less than 100 yards from jarvis thrasher and well above quincy daniels who had 1070 earned only second team honors hahaha what a blow to quinton. Q tied for 4th in the nation in scoring offense with 21 touchdown while thrasher had 20 and quincy had 17....this just doesn't make since to me.  i mean thrasher and quincy are both very deserving of the honor, i dont want to take that away from them but how can someone of quintons caliber be missed.  this has completely outraged me, beyond belief.  you cant skip Q and give first team to thrasher, quincy and TJ. Q deserves more recogniton.  Well the offense in whole needed more.  UMHB got most of the votes...rightfully so, but their entire offensive line got first team minus one who got second.  hsus offensive line is most likely just as good...and only three of them got awards and only one 1st team.  I know this is a lot of venting but i had to say something.  i dont understand how an 11th ranked offense in the nation can get overlooked. i know they had an off year but it does say something for an offense to be ranked 11th in the nation after playing 3 top fifteen teams and doing that still having 4 losses.  the offense averaged 41 points a game, you shouldn't fault the offense and screw them out of awards. but congrats to everyone who received all confernce...well deserved!!!

hsucowboyfan

might i also say that Jones rushed for 1,356 yards and 18 touchdowns and ranked second in the conference in each category. He had over 400 yards more and twice as many touchdowns as T.J. Barber of Sul Ross State that was on the first team. Its not making sense!!!
