sounds political.... 11 defensive players from Mary were selected all conference and 13 players from their offense... Sounds fishy... but o well the conference and d3 its self is soo jacked up it really doesnt matter....

minni

I agree you have a running that has 1356 yards on a "passing" team.  Q was definately well deserving of a first team all conference and most likely and all-american nod as well.  Thrasher and Daniels I am sure are well deserving of their honors but, dont dissappoint these men because the defense can get the s*** together.  No love from the conference.  And go ahead and let me have about HSU fans whinning.  Talk about pouring salt on our wounds this year.

I don't how to respond to the 1st team picks.  I saw both Q and TJ on several occasions this season.  maybe there was a sense that TJ was more important to the team or maybe HSU's O got shafted because the D wasn't what it normally is.  What ever the reason, let me congratulate everyone for the honors the  did receive.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

J Neal's team won their league if I understnd it correctly and will be back like hsutd73 said.

Also Matt Epperson who played overseas is back in Abilene and I talked to him at the HSU v. McMurry game and he said he is probably going to go back and play again next year he loved it so much.  From talking with him it sounds like they have a pretty sweet deal over there.

HSUTD73, You were looking mighty thin!!!!  Now your brother on the other hand,.....

hsutd73

ha thanks minni! i was also told josh knox might have a chance to go play on the same team in italy that matt is going to play for although thats just hearsay...ya my brother says hes gonna lose some weight now that his playing days are over...by the way he was nominated for lineman of the year but apparently 2nd team is the same thing?

Isn't the All-Conference Teams selected by the coaches themselves. If not how is it selected. I don't see how one particular team could make the selection "Fishy". Could someone that knows, elaborate on this?  Usually the top two teams in the conference make up most of the All-conference teams. Atleast thats how it was whenever I played.

Quick Question......

I know the NCAA doesn't like to spend money on D3 football. Yet with $8 per person, per game, with the added sales of T-shirts, which are ussually sold out. I would think that the NCAA is atleast breaking even during the D3 football playoffs. Any input......

I'd think some games break even some don't.  If the AA is footing the bill for airfare for 60 people with less than 2wks notice, during peak season the bill could get pretty high....

Ron Boerger

Less than ONE week notice, which means fares can be astronomical.

Let's say you get 3,000 to attend at $8 per (some will get more, some will get less).  $24,000.

60 airfares at $500 = $30,000 (remember that a lot of teams will fly into or out of small airports with less competition and much higher fares.  Also, try to book 60 people on one flight with such short lead time in these days of 90% passenger load factors)
30 hotel rooms at $100 = $3,000
Local bus rental = $1,000
Meal allowance for 60 x 3 meals @ $8 = $1,420
Referees = ?
Ground crew (chain gang, etc) = ?
Other expenses (is a fee paid for the stadium?) = ?

and now you see why the NCAA will go to such great lengths to bus teams as much as possible.
