Great game by the CRU today. Total domination. NCW was not very good. I'm pretty sure that any ASC team could of beaten them today. I can understand the weather having an affect on their style of play, but they just were not very good today. The CRU has played much better teams in the regular season. Nonetheless, it's a win. The pregame chant of "It's Our House" lead me to believe that they were actually going to give the CRU a run for their money, boy was I wrong. Cold sloppy day in Belton today, but a great victory by the CRU. GO CRU!!!

Congratulations CRU!

If I (speaking on behalf of the mere mortals who play ASC football) am gonna be monkey-stomped or double-monkey stomped (those margins of victory according to the posters on the Liberty League boards are 21 and 42 points respectively), then I am glad the CRU put a triple monkey-stomp on the Bishops!

Ralph...truthfully it wasn't even really 64-0 close.  i would have liked to have seen more ideal conditions.  I was feeling sorry for the NCWC kids.  They were standing on the sidelines in horrible conditions, rainy and cold (wind chill around 32 @ kick) with no coats, or gloves, or hand warmers.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Ohhhhh!   :o

That was a frozen triple-monkey-stomp!

Go CRU, Beat Wesley!

umhb2001

Seriously, if they had some coats and things, they might have been playing a little better.  But when you stand on the side and are a frozen board, it's hard to come in and play a good game.  I think that "anyone in the ASC could beat them today" is a little bit of an understatement. They didn't beat W&J for no reason.  Under good conditions, they play better.

Our D was amazing today.  The sacks keep piling up and the Int's were a huge help.  NCW never really looked like they were even ready to play.  I hope that our boys can continue the surge next week. I went to Delaware last year, and the Wesley fans were pretty rude.  I hope we go up there hungry and ready to blast them.  I know it will be a tougher game than today, but I think we can win.  NCW played them earlier, I think, and lost by like 12 or 15.  I hope that means that we will fare better this year.  Go CRU!
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Just got back from the game, and am finally warm again!!!

A few observations...

NCW==

Their quarterback was not a dominate player today.  He and the rest of the team seemed as if they were in slow motion, from getting the play called, to lining up, to running the play.  If he was supposed to be the heart and soul of their team, the coaches sure did not call his number very often.  You run the shotgun offense to give an athletic qb chances to carry the ball, and their biggest hitter as far as the run was the TB zone.  Think they ran the read option off it 2 or 3 times.  Maybe ran the QB counter twice with him.  He also did not look comfortable throwing the ball in wet weather.  Quite a few ducks thrown on fade routes and could not complete a high percentage pass in flare and bubble routes.

Special teams were not very good from the punter to the returners.  NCW returners never even wanted to catch a kickoff, and would run forward to watch it bounce from the 2 yardline into the enzone.

Their goalline defense was very good.  They held UMHB out of the endzone for FG's atleast 3 maybe 4 times.  But they eventually got worn down as their offense never really gave them time to recoup.

UMHB==

Looked good throwing on playaction pass.  Cole Smith had a very good catch in coverage.

Same ol' option/power game using multiple backs and linemen to do what UMHB does best.

Chris Owen had a stellar performance late in the game tying the single game scoring record with 4 TD's and got many of the "hard yards" after contact.

Wesley should prove tough test once again, but I'd like to think that UMHB is a little more mature in terms of preparing for a big game than they were last year, especially learning from a loss to UWW earlier in the year.
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Wesley edged NCWC at home in the opener, 34-31.

And we all know how good an indicator score comparison can sometimes turn out to be...

Plus it was at the beginning of the season.  I doubt MHB will win by like 59.

CruAlum39

Im with you there pg04.  The thing that really good teams do is get a lot better throughout the year while other teams peak around week 5-7.  Im sure Wesley is a team that has continued to improve throughout the regular and postseason.

Opening weekend, UMHB put away CNU in its second game 51-19, too.

Again, doesn't seem too relevant to me.

Been home from the game for hours now and I am just now dry and warm. I am still wondering what happened to the NCW offense. Don't know if it was the weather or what, but they never seemed to get going and their QB could not seem to throw the ball well at all. I guess its back to Delaware we go, hopefully with much better results this year.

k-hud

yes, hopefully the third time will be the charm

yessir

Please. let the third time be the charm. I am tired of losing to Wesley both as a fan and a player. I am still debating on whether or not to go to Deleware. The wife is still working out the numbers. I guess we'll see in the next few days. Either way, good luck this week CRU. Take care of business.......

wesleydad

crualum39, your descriptin is the same thing that i saw with ncwc in week one against wesley.  the score was 34 - 31, but the game was close more to bad ball protection, wesley turnovers resulted in i believe 17 pts for ncwc.

umhb2001, to describe the wesley fans as rude is interesting.  i was there last year also and recall some "rudeness" from the umhb crowd.  since i dont think either is a reflection of most of us, i ignored it.  we wesley fans are certainly vocal and support our team very loudly.

it should be a great game and i am extending an invite to any umhb fan attending the game to join us in the tailgating area before or after the game.  stone station has commited to being there and we have plenty of other not rude fans that you can mingle with since i know from experience that it is tough to tailgate on the road, especially if you fly.

round 3 and it should be as good as the first 2.  i believe, without looking at either roster that many of the same participants are still on both squads so i dont think there will be any suprizes.  have a good week and see you if you make it on saturday.
