Let's see, D3 has a playoff and D1, or whatever they are called now, has the BCS!!!   :-\

It would be interesting to see how Hawaii  and some "lesser conferences" would make out in a rating system used by DIII instead of the BCS. It seems that the powers that be don't even have to explain why LSU jumps 5 spots or why Syracuse with 24 wins doesn't make the NCAA bball tourny.

Also one Oxymoron :  DI Leagues with a playoff game weigh more because they supposedly win their conference. Yet a playoff isn't good  for DI ??  WHAT!!
Football !!! The ultimate team sport. Anyone who plays DIII football is a winner...

This is what's great about D3 Football. We can post comments all day about our team or the other team but when it's all said and done these young men get to settle it on the field.

If UMHB or UWW loses they will have at least had the chance to do it on the field instead of computers and writers dictating which teams get a chance at the national title.

Current Conditions in Whitewater, WI....a brisk 17 degrees with a low of 7 tonight...I dont care who or what you are, that is NOT football weather.  Good Luck with that UMHB, no way to really prepare for those conditions in Belton, tx.  I think today it was around 80 degrees.  Good Luck all the way!!!!

minni,

I wonder what the cost would be to fit the Ice Rink at the Bell county expo center with turf to run drills heading into a game like this? :D
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

It is hard to replicate that kind of cold. It becomes mind over pain once the chill settles into your body

I know what that kind of cold is like.  I was actually thinking of something someone else wrote about getting used to having your hands on frozen ground.  I guess the other option would be the sub-zero freezer at McLane Southwest.  Drayton is a school benefactor... ;D

No doubt. That is what I keep telling myself as I sit there like an idiot at these games  :D

In Texas we just say..."It builds character."

I got cold for you......try orderfilling in the Ice Cream room at Wal-mart distribuition for 11 hours, -20 degrees. Now that's cold. It don't matter how you prepare or where your from 7 degrees is cold to everybody, even you Wisconsin boys. Yall will have jackets on just like use. I can't wait for the game. It's gonna be a good one. GO CRU!!!
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

Also, to reply about the cannon. It was only annoying because we were losing. Like I stated above, if it was at our field I would love it. I think it's pretty cool. Great home field tradition you know. I was mainly asking because I know how the NCAA can be about that type of stuff. I was just wondering is all. No harm whether or not they get to use it.

The University of Texas has fired a cannon after TDs for years and I think there are other schools that do the same.  I don't see how this is a big deal.   It is only annoying if you are getting your behind beat.   :D

I'm not certain about UT firing a cannon, but at one time the Texas Tech ROTC people did so, even at road games. (Kindly correct my memory if I err ....  :P)

Now I had a coach when I played in the WIAC that did not allow us to wear sleeves in practice not to mention the game.  That is supposed to be a tough thing, but it is damn sure cold when a jet heater cannot warm up your body.  You are right Wisconsin boys are not going to be use to the cold either, especially practicing inside, but having lived in the conditions your body does adapt kinda similar to the eskimos, but not that extreme.

Excellent point!  And the fact that we can't have the CouchCru doin their thing is rediculous.  DI can do whatever and DIII can't?  Why??

Maybe it's too much of a cop-out:  money?

Guess I'll reiterate that these rules are for the CHAMPIONSHIPS. The FBS does not have a CHAMPIONSHIP, right?
