My last word on the cannon business...if you have ever been to an Army/Navy game, you know what a cannon sounds like - I think the Cadets and Middies spend a whole year perfecting the formula to see who can create a louder kaboom.  Their cannons are the loudest I have ever heard.  WW's cannon sounds like a firecracker compared to those other ones.  At the old Vet, the stadium would shake when they fired those things off.

Warren,  the cannon at Texas is called Smokey.  We heard it a lot when we played UT.  Didn't bother us any, except it meant they were scoring a lot.

Guess I'll reiterate that these rules are for the CHAMPIONSHIPS. The FBS does not have a CHAMPIONSHIP, right?

I think I missed the part about it being for the championships; thank you for the clarification (or reminder).  While it doesn't answer all the questions, it does make me feel better about why it isn't enforced until the playoffs.

I picture the CRU as one of those new cars that can switch from  running on 8 cylinders to 6, or 4 depending on driving conditions.  They had all 8 last meeting, but were cruisin only running on 4!!!

That's the best I can describe it, not what you would call an expert in the automobile world.  Sorry!

The players only meeting sounds a lot like the one we had after the Hardin-Simmons loss in '04.  Hope it works out as good or better this year than it did back then.

I just checked the weather after i posted this....Currently @ 9:05 the temperarure is -4 degrees.  And i realize the game will be played @ 12 or 1 but, what affect will this have on the game scheme?  When does UMHB leave?  Maybe they can do some sort of practice in the conditions???
