my statement about the HPU recent "singing.." well thats really good for jordan neal and i know he could incorporate him into the offense... Now saying they have a title run is a different story... D still lacks the athleticism to hang with the conferences best offenses... and no matter how big a kid is .. i believe he could impact the team but not carry a team ...Great Player .. COULD BE... Lead a Team.. DOUBtful.. but then again i could eat my own words .. if i do recall we did lose to howard payne this past year!

BUT THEN AGAIN.... THATS LAST YEAR~

I read that HSU got a few transfers for the D. Does any of them stand to make a difference this year?

D O.C.

I would again like to commend HSU for their scheduling.
LAX and LINFIELD really help the Division III fan to compare and contrast.

UMHB going to Southern Oregon I also find interesting because of the common opponent factor with LINFIELD.

A healthy season to all.

So when does everyone report this year?  ???

Should and could be another Interesting season in Abilene.  We shall see how it goes.  Going to be a Historical year for Coach K as he coaches his 500th career game against Sully in Abilene in Week 8 I believe.  Hopefully some improving in Abilene this year, on the north side of town atleast!!!

crufootball

UMHB reports next Monday on the 18th I believe.

"Singing" ???   Maybe that's been HPU's problem, instead of signing players, they've been singing to them.

HSU Follower My lil Bro plays for HSU he is a transfer from TJC and plays LB. I hope they can improve on last year and give UMHB a run for the conf.

Mississippi College players arrived yesterday with 154 players reporting for practice.

HSWho2007

Who are going to be the receivers for Miss College this year? I know they were pretty senior laden the past season. I sure am glad Allen is gone.  ;D

golden_dome

I don't know if anyone watched, but Jake Allen caught a couple passes in Green Bay's game the other night against Minnesoate. He missed last week with a groin injury which set him back a bit and didn't return to practice until Saturday, but he still played a good bit in the second half.

Not sure yet who will be the receivers this year. There are several transfers who joined the program that look promising, and a few talented young guys who were stuck behind last year's wide receivers. Hopefully, I'll get out to practice a couple times this week to see some of the new guys.

From the UMHB website;

FB team to report to campus Monday
08/15/08
Belton, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will begin defense of its 2007 American Southwest Conference championship when an expected class of more than 200 players reports to campus on Monday, August 18th. Players will check in and begin moving into McLane Hall on the UMHB campus from 7:30-11:00 AM that day. Players will then spend the rest of the day in registration, physicals and compliance meetings. The first practice of the 2008 fall camp will be Tuesday, August 19th at 8:45 AM. The first workout in full pads will be Saturday, August 23rd at 8:45 AM. All of those practices will be held at the UMHB football practice fields at the Cru Sports Plex.

Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Wow!  200?

How many of those incoming freshmen are still on campus two years later?

The hard job is getting those last 50 players to see that their UMHB/McM/HSU/etc education is worth the expense, especially when those students realize that they have hit their peak in athletic attainment.

I know that McMurry had about 100 freshmen this year.

Coach Gray has 10 JV games and one JV scrimmage.  It is also a challenge to those 18 yr olds that they are 18 year old "boys" competing against 21 year old "men".  There is just so much physical maturation that occurs in those three years!

I don't know how many stay Ralph, but I can tell you that I talk to a number of alumni who came to UMHB to play football and ended up as students and never completed a year as a football player, but that was the case even back in the scholarship-no football days.  I had tons of friends who came to UMHB on baseball scholarships and didn't play more than a year.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.
