QuotePINEVILLE, La. – In a defensive struggle on a field that resembled a swamp more than a football field, Louisiana College came away with a 14-3, non-conference victory, over Rhodes College Sunday afternoon. The LC defense held Rhodes to 87 yards, which is the lowest total for an LC defense in the modern era. The win improves LC to 2-0, while Rhodes falls to 0-1. The Wildcats open American Southwest Conference play next Saturday, hosting Hardin-Simmons in a 6 p.m. contest.

Thanks for the info on both Whitworth/HSU in '09 and the LC game, Gray Fox.  I hadn't yet heard about the Whitworth game getting scheduled, but I like it.

I think they belong in the top 25 but I'm not sure where they will land.

Looks like the CRU will move up to #3 in the polls. I wonder if they will get a 1st place vote... possibly the one Wesley had last week.

Edit: Oops just checked the top 25 again and they did move to #3 but didnt get a first place vote... yet!

HSU was ranked pretty high in my opinion. Expected them in the top 20.

Just wanted to thank Toby for breakfast and the great tour of Abilene.  The way DIII fans are willing to roll out the welcome mat to other DIII'ers from around the country is one of the reasons I love this division.  The Pig was some great eating.  THANK YOU TOBY.

On the game....congratulations are in order for the Cowboys and I look forward to the 'Cats getting a shot on getting the score even in 2009.  Hope some of you can make the trip up to the PacNW.

Best of luck for the remainder of 2008.

Ralph...the Pig is my type of place.  It reminded me of the American Cafe which is just down the street from my house.

Ryan,

I enjoyed meeting you on Saturday.  Thanks for coming to Abilene and if you make it again call me.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Jason Bowen is our new Around the South columnist, and his first missive is up on the front page.  Check it out--it's well done.

Thanks, Jason, and keep up the good work!
