My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

WOW!!! What a game. Congrats to the CRUSADERS. That was a very good football game. I was really hoping for a different outcome... Wish our kicking game had been up to par today. That really hurt us, especially down the stretch. Congrats to the Cowboy D. What an improvement from last season. Lets get ready for the Tigers next week. Congrats to ETBU as well on a good game today as well.

UMHB 392 yards of total offense. 24 first downs. Most of the yardage today was on the ground
HSU 352 yard of total offense. 18 first downs. Most of the yardage for HSU was in the air.

Pretty even matched football game. UMHB did a great job of controlling the clock today. Lots of big penalties for the Crusaders today.  Several nice big plays for HSU including driving the length of the field to score on a good UMHB defense. Wish the 2pt conversion had gone.

Congrats cowboys finish it!
Congrats Crusaders see you in Nov (i'm sure).

A classic UMHB/HSU battle.  I tip my hats to both teams for a hard fought game.  We should meet again in the playoffs.

I am concerned about our injuries to Matt Hurst, Pi Dadro Davis, and our starting center.  Pray all is well, and once again great effort by both teams.  What a game!

It was a great game....definately a nail bitter. I think today the Cru was more one domensional (sp) than I've ever seen them. Seems like every play was an option with the QB keeping the ball. I would of liked to see the offense a little more balanced but you can't knock the coaching staff for running what was working. I just know the Cru will need to be more balanced come Nov. and Dec. as I went to Wisconsin twice last year and both times the lack of a passing game really hendered the Cru. I also think the kicking game was bad for both HSU and UMHB. The missed field goals could of cost us....and ended up costing HSU. Overall it was a great game...definately some improvements needed but a win is a win. If anyone got a picture of HSU team after the game please send me a link...as that sight never ever ever gets old. Now lets get everyone healthy and keep this thing moving. You have to improve each week...cause i'm sure there will be 3 Texas teams in the playoffs and only one will make it past the 2nd round...Let's hope its UMHB.
Walking on thin ice cuz someone lost......again.

I hope Josh got a picture of Hurst getting his helmet knocked off in the first qtr.  That was a great hit

I just wanted to invite my friends in the ASC to keep an eye on Millsaps.  Not only did they kill Miss Coll but they have continued to demolish everyone since.  Today they destroyed a formerly 3-0 DePauw team 55-13.

The Majors could very well be a first-round / second-round opponent for the ASC, and one that, should it continue to play at its current level, could reverse the direction of the ASC-SCAC relationship.

Aaahh, a classic yessir post.  You almost got all the way through one post without your classlessness shining through!  But  I know you just can't help it.  I'm sure Coach Fred would be very proud of you and a couple of others on here.

Congrats to UMHB.  You did what you needed to win.  Great game by the Cowboys!  A 2 point game on the road to the number 3 team in the nation that could have gone either way.  Looks like there isn't much difference in the number 3 and number 21 teams!  UMHB definitely lost a little of their "mystique" today and I hope we get a chance to meet again in the playoffs!

Now, let's win out Cowboys.  ETBU looks like a contender.

Ralph Turner

ETBU needs to run the football.

McMurry was able to keep it close until the 4th quarter.

ETBU led 17-7 with 12 minutes left in the game (and McMurry had missed a 33 yd FG in the first half.)

Weak Safety

Thanks for the info Ralph.  The final score doesn't always reflect the game conditions, so I appreciate the report.

Josh,

Great work my friend.  The game day picture on the d3football main page is incredible.  Shows the passion and intensity of the game.  A picture is truly "worth more than a thousand words."

Thanks, 96.  As much as I root for HSU, I really, really try to cover the games evenly and this is one of my favorite shots from last year.  Uploading todays as we speak, so please check back soon to see shots from a truly classic contest.

Ron,

Could Millsaps be a #1 seed in the South.  Even at a #2, could the NCAA match up UMHB and HSU in the first round?

UMHB 20, Hardin-Simmons 18 in 16 possessions (off by 13 points and 8 possessions). Got HSU's points exactly; game was a heck of a lot slow-paced than I expected.
TLU 28, Howard Payne 21 in 26 possessions (off by 16 points and 2 possessions). Almost nailed HPU's points.
Miss. College 21, Louisiana Coll. 19 in 27 possessions (off by 5 points and 1 possession). Not bad, but missed the winner.
